Ukraine Donation Scams Are Bigger Than You Think
In nature, every system is constantly tested to see if it can remain upright and robust, from your immune system to ecosystems and of course financial systems. I've spoken previously about how financial systems get attacked and why shitcoins will always capitulate be it from the outside or inside, the larger they get.
But it's not the only way people will get at your money, as easy as it becomes to hack a shitcoin, hacking a shitcoiner is even easier. I mentioned in other posts on how war wastes resources and how donations aren't always what they seem to be
Donation masterbation
People who give donations don't often do it for the good of the recipient, if they did they would make sure the funds got to that person. People mostly donate to show off some sort of moral superiority and wank themselves off at how great they are regardless if those funds did anything good or not.
They just want to social clout of showing they supported something. If you don't believe me, then look at the Ukraine crisis. It's not the only active war zone in the world, but millions were thrown at it by citizens all over the world, and a large portion of those millions never made it to anyone in Ukraine.
Glass half scammed
According to a new report by blockchain research firm TRM, half of the purported humanitarian campaigns were scams, and no one took the time to review them they just sent off their money without a second thought.
Of the data collected by TRM looking at 50 distinct crypto-donation campaigns and addresses to send funds to, many didn't do as they claimed. They may have said it was humanitarian or military efforts in Ukraine, but turned out to be an "obvious scam" campaign comprised.
Since most people don't take the time to research and are just moronic NPCs that have no idea what's going on they open their wallets and their mouths and just allow themselves to be made a fool.
TRM researchers noted that the surge in global attention and people's eagerness to donate to Ukraine created an opportunity for scammers to promote fake fundraisers.
Since people are emotionally charged by the media, it was easy for scam organizations to create mock-campaign names like Support Ukraine, Ukraine-Fund, and Ukraine NOW to lure donations and make off with the money that is KYC free so no one can recover it if they know how to get rid of it properly.
"Most of these scams were quickly identified as such by researchers and hosting providers, and their sites were taken down," TRM wrote. "They raised anywhere from a couple of hundred dollars to a couple thousand, before being taken down."
65 million dollar month
TRM claim that over $135.7 million in cryptocurrency was sent to Ukraine between February 22 and March 28, with novel campaign types emerging like those conducted on Twitter or Discord, or through the minting of non-fungible tokens. If half of that is a scam that's $67 million worth of funds for a month's work.
Again, I have no opinion or say in what you do with your money, everyone should do what they like and be rewarded or punished based on their level of working brain cells. As is life, washing out the weak hands is going to hit you sooner or later, the tests come in all shapes and sizes.

I've been perplexed by the large number of scams.
The scary thing is that many of the scammers had infrastructure in place before Ukraine invasion. The scammers are ready to turn on a dime to milk any cause or crisis that appears in the news.
It is also interesting to see how large groups with big marketing departments were able to quickly whip up donation campaigns for the war.
Personally, I think that charitable money is best spent locally.
It turns out that local charities are often parts of national and international networks. These networks have a better track record than the "charities" one encounters on the social media or see on TV.

Yes, I think there is a range of scams, some are people politically affiliated with certain groups and were able to mimic campaigns or swap addresses to push it to them, others were simply opportunitists piggy bagging off the hype
I agree, if you can't see where your money is going or use the money yourself to contribute like actively participating in charitable efforts, you are just throwing money down the toilet and pretending to care, its more for the person to feel good about themselves rather than the cause they claim to be funding
Guys, if you want the funds to reach the recipient, you only need to donate to official, government wallets.
Don't they use it to buy more weapons?
Exactly you're not guaranteed on use of funds, government don't suddenly become fiscally responsible with your money, never have, never will
Much is kept by corrupt officials I’m sure
That's still trusting of a corrupt centralised entity, lets not pretend any government is a noble actor,
I think if you send a letter through the RNBO website with a request to indicate real wallets, real volunteers, you will receive a truthful answer and truthful wallets.
I mean the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Ministry of Defense of Ukraine definately is not going to buy any weapons with the donations.
It all is a terrible scam; cryptos used to finance terrorism, that's how it will go into the records ;)
The essence of donation is that you either donate to something after analyzing the situation, or you don't. I see no reason to go into details. The fact that volunteers send not only ammunition to the front, but also help to people who are in occupation, that's for sure. Everything is known in comparison, when the war comes to your house, you will treat everything differently.
I know war, and I know that sending ammunition to active war zones prolongs the war.
Brother, think about your words, the war lasts as long as there is an invader and there is resistance. Ukrainians will gnaw at the throat of the Russians if they do not have shells, do not look for the possibility of ending the war where it does not exist. Only the supply of weapons can end the war sooner. The Russians have already shown that they have a worthless army, from rabble, murderers, rapists and looters, and their general is parquet ballerinas.
The war can last for many reasons. Pretending the USA government isn’t making things worse for Ukraine people is to be blind. Putin bad no doubt but there’s a lot happening. To pretend NATO doesn’t have blame also is ignoring obvious truths.
As long as NATO countries can continue to rob their citizens through inflation and convince them that war is the right answer, their arms can keep flowing and the conflict can continue without the need for diplomacy.
B20. Ukraine needs only weapons from the United States, nothing more, and Ukraine does not need worried, very worried and overly worried advisers). This is a simple recipe for understanding the situation. Many are mistaken in their thinking. that the United States is at the helm of Ukraine's defense, no, brave Ukrainians are at the helm.

Why would you trust them?
B10. I expressed my opinion, and you can trust other sources, I do not mind).

A fair reply ⬆️
Many others trashing people asking questions. You are fair unlike them. It’s refreshing to see!
B20. The lack of a complete understanding of the situation gives rise to people's own justice, you need to understand this and try to forgive, lol.

Because you're told to or manipulated emotionally to believe it, when someone can't articulate their point its usually one of those 2. Understandable in crisis ofcourse, but if we don't have clear heads trying to bridge the gap there is no pathway to resolution and peace which in the end is what most people want
Government? Yea I’m sure they’ll use the funds for something legit 🙄
I think you misunderstood my answer. The Ministry of Defense has all the information about volunteer centers where you can donate funds. without fear that the accounts are provided by fraudsters, everything is simple. There are telephone hotlines, there is an e-mail where you can contact or send a request before sending a donation.

There are Ukraine government officials stealing off the top. This is corruption central.
You have a talent that any proctologist can envy, you don't get your hands dirty, you're not where the problem is, but at the same time, you are well aware of what's going on inside, lol. I don't have that kind of talent and I don't know what to say to you.

Lol exactly, name one government in the world that is fiscally responsible, don't worry ill wait
there are so many scams, but I believe that cybercrime is destined to increase between now and 2025
I don't think just cybercrime, but crime in general, we live in the golden age of fraud right now, there's plenty of open scams like the carbon credit system, spacs and companies trading at 50 times multiples with no profit and are functionally insolvent, these are all scams with a different lick of paint
It’s crazy how people get their dose of moral whack off with donating blindly to shit lol. I see it all the time even outside of this. I feel bad for the people who really need it but there’s so many scams on like go fund me never mind the conflict stuff.
People are very lazy and don’t bother to spend 5-10 minutes looking something up before donating.

Oh yea for sure, I used to see it all the time when i was on trad-social you would donate just to grab the screenshot to post or you'd go hand out something so you can get a picture with a less fortunate person, for your socials, really pathetic and deluded middle class "morality"
Lol a fool and their money will always part ways sooner or later, theres always a way to get them to open their wallets and they will happily do so as long as the reason seems morally rightious
Finally some common sense here! You are spot on!
Wonder how much Russian scam activity is going down.
Let alone the crazy events going on in the news.
I don't doubt that people are trying to scam anything they can.
I think scams aren't nation state based, but if you have the ablity to do so, we see it all over the world, and with so many falling inot economic ruin, they are desperate and people can easily pick them off with shitcoins and other scams.
Thank you for being a rare voice of reason. I feel Hive peeps I e known for years have lost there minds lately. The crapping on the Russian people (people not government) is gross. Along with the blind trust for all other governments involved. Ukraine is one of the most corrupt regions on earth. I just don’t understand how so many normally reasonable people are acting like sheep. It’s sad at this point. We can clearly criticize multiple governments at same time. Thank you for being a critical thinker✊
It's a pleasure, loads of groupthink going on here, I guess why they call it HIVE.
It amazes me that we all accept that governments are dumb, but suddenly the Ukrainian government under attack makes them a Bastian of genius on how to allocate funds.
By that logic, why wasn't Assad backed like that in Syria, what about the Yemen government? It's selective thinking based on media-manufactured consensus and thinking that it's original though it's really sad.
No logical consistencies, even when I argue my points on HIVE about shitcoins, you'll see how quickly people fold because they have no opinion, they just repeat talking points
You do realize you don’t have to be Russian to pull scams right?
Lol that would go against the consensus, don't you know that US/UK/NATO can do no harm, and that the people of Uganda who have been killed by nato funding and supoprt for the last 10 years isn't real
