How to relax with ASMR
I discovered ASMR 2 years ago. I think that it really changed my life. Being an anxious person who spends hours and hours thinking in order to finally find sleep, ASMR really allowed me to finally fall asleep quickly but above all soundly.
First of all, what is ASMR ?
- ASMR’s definition
ASMR stands for Autonomous sensory meridian response, is in fact a distinct, pleasant sensation of tingling or chills in the skull, scalp or peripheral areas of the body, in response to a visual, auditory stimulus , olfactory or cognitive.
But hey, I know that this definition may seem a bit hazy.
So here is my definition of ASMR
MY DEFINITION OF ASMR
ASMR is a feeling of well-being, it makes you feel a pleasant tingling in the skull and an extreme relaxation. It makes the brain escape the stressful routine of life, it’s somehow the same feeling that you get when meditating but for me, listening to ASMR is easier than meditation.
Auditory triggers
All you have to do to experience this pleasant feeling is watch a video in which you can hear whispers, or tapping on different objects such as wood, metal or tapping on phones, you can also listen to people make mouth sounds; if you are into that . All of these sounds that you hear are called auditory triggers. But there are also plenty of other types of triggers, like visual triggers.Visual triggers
Examples of visual triggers: hand movements, playing with lights, or even screen brushing. When we look at these visual triggers we feel hypnotized and we slowly fall asleep.
Videos I like and recommend
There are all kinds of ASMR videos out there, and that's the great thing about it because you can find videos for all tastes and in every language. But here are some videos that I really enjoy watching.
