RE: Facing the RINOs ... meme

I think these could be a very good meme, reflecting commonly held understandings. However, I have a question, not being very familiar with commonly held understandings due to my uncommon understandings.

What is a RINO? I know it's an abbreviation for 'republican in name only', but what is the assumption about what the RINO really is rather than a Republican?

Thanks!

I like the meme because it reflects internal division in a party. IMHO: Internal division within parties is usually good thing. It is one of the few places where we see actual debate.

The term RINO is often used by self-described conservatives for people who do not tow the "conservative" line. "Conservative" in the United States means something different than in the rest of the world.

Most US conservatives are ignorant of other uses of the term.

Some people use RINO for politicians who compromise their campaign positions one in office. I find this use silly because the concept of compromise is central to central to the Republican tradition.

Personally, I see it as a term used by frustrated voters who feel that the government is overbearing and does not respond to the needs of the people.

BTW: Apparently Trump uses the term.
