Morning Run: Before the rain

avatar

I just finished a 5.812km running that lasted about 0hh:34mm:42ss !

Another cool morning. There is a forecast of some really high winds up in Scotland this week, but we should not get it too bad down here. I still wanted to avoid the rain if possible.

It was time for my regular hill sprints workout. I am still testing negative for COVID, but it feels like I have a cold coming on. I took it easy on the way to West Drive and then it was all go! There were a fair few people walking or running around there. I just concentrated on my workout. The results were not too bad. I used to struggle to get under 5min/km, but am now doing that most times. I did need a brief walk on the recovery phase each time. I think my lung capacity is down a little with this cold, but it cannot be that bad.

I seem to be the only person doing this workout based on what I see on Strava. I am way ahead in the segment 'local legend' list. I expect others have their own routines.

I took a long way home to stretch it out a bit and it was just starting to rain as I came down the final hill. I just have to remember to put the chicken food out. I put it in their bin at night to stop the rats feeding and I did not get it out before my run. There are fresh tunnels every morning.

I have started reading the book @run.vince.run has written about running. It is looking interesting so far.

Run free and stay well.

Maybe in a few months. I'm hoping for a great year for Hive in general.

You are lucky in your rain, just missing English rain just now, as we've snow and it's 7 F today, that is well below freezing. Good luck with your continued running @steevc

It is raining now. I don't like it too cold or hot and so our climate is not too bad really. It has been a fairly mild winter generally. Maybe that is a sign of things to come.

Nice job on your run. As much as I wouldn't mind warmer temps right now, I think I am okay with our precipitation coming down as snow and not rain. It was a long day for me yesterday so I really wanted to just stay in bed this morning, but I got up and did a bit of a workout. I'll probably be happier about that later in the day than I am right now :)

You seem to keep up some sort of workout routine through the winter and that's great. It's tempting to just do nothing. You will will see benefits.

We try to work out at least five times a week. Occasionally it only ends up being four times a week. It isn't a huge workout, probably only about 20 to 30 minutes, but it keeps us active. Once the weather picks up we will likely start walking on the weekends and stuff.

it's great for health to be active and running also strengthens the body
