Hive Power Up Day: Putting it all on red
Another month rolls around and it is the last of 2021 already. I have done every #HivePUD since August last year and I was not going to miss this one. I had been saving up some funds from @splinterlands as I get the SPS airdrop as well as DEC from renting out my cards. I also sold some other tokens I earned. I cannot manage them all and having more HP means I can give better rewards to people.
You will notice I am not keeping any HBD and have nothing in savings. I just feel it does more good as HP and what I make for my self is less important. That said, I do have personal goals. I hope to add another 1000 by the end of the year.
I have delegations to various accounts, but they are not really to earn me anything. @tenkminnows still has one and other people contribute to that.
First of the month also means new cards in @risingstargame and I want them all! I bought a load of packs and got a fair few of the new ones, but nothing epic or legendary. I assume the odds of those may get adjusted as more people play the game or they would run out too quickly. I am up to level 709 in the game now, but I just keep on playing. I enjoy collecting the cards. I will try to fill the gaps.
Something I do each month is to produce a new #BritList. I am expecting higher numbers than ever, but I always appreciate when others can help me find people I missed. Not everyone makes their location obvious on their profile. They are free to do that, but of they are happy to be known to be in the UK then I want to add them to the list.
Hive five!
Much appreciated, sir!
@steevc It is very heartening to see Hive veterans like you powering up. It sets an example for many like me who are creating niche content and hope to become stalwart members, contributing to HIVE ecosystem. I am nowhere near all the leaders here of course but will contribute in my own small way every day. I am still learning the ropes in HIVE after my long Hiatus from the earstwhile platform so, will also power up as much as I can.
Thanks for everything you do to support communities and upcoming members.
It is really paying off now ehehe

Persistence does pay off. I do intend to spend some rewards some time, but will try to avoid powering down. Hope you are well. We need another meetup, but that may need to be next year.
Yeah. We should. But agree. This year it will be difficult. And lets hope they won't increase the restrictions 🤞

I have just been taking gradual profits - all into btc. Happy now just to keep it all and see where it takes me. Good luck!
Nothing wrong with taking profits. I will do so myself to buy things I want.
Yeah, gotta treat yourself. Will be cool to see people post their Hive purchases haha. Soon it will be Telsa cars...
I know someone who bought a Nissan Leaf with their earnings a few years back. We will see a few millionaires as we go on.

I like a lot your post !!!
🤩🤩🤩
Cheers, but comments like this do not get votes. You need to be less generic.
Congratulations @steevc! You received a personal badge!
Participate in the next Power Up Day and try to power-up more HIVE to get a bigger Power-Bee.
May the Hive Power be with you!

Question if I may ask. Why would you want to put your hive in hive power (2%) vs savings which is at 10%?
It depends on your aims. Savings is okay if you want to get it out quickly, but HP earns interest and curation rewards whilst helping others. I can make around 10% just from curation.
Oh that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying!
In these PUD time . I can not power up because I don't have 10 Hive and not enough for Power up. But Next Month PUD January 1 I will try to Power up with my HIVE.
Don't worry about qualifying for the contest. Just do what is right for you and that you can afford. Put out good posts and build an audience. That is what really pays off.
you are a very good HIVE user! As for HBDs, I started putting them in savings a few months ago
I've set my rewards to 100% HP now. With the recent bump in HIVE, I found I was dithering about selling the HBD rewards in case HIVE dropped in price. The only time I regretted not having some liquid HIVE was when I discovered that the Hive Punks were minting. I had to hastily watch a tutorial to learn how to put a bit more HIVE into my account. I suppose it was a good learning process though... :)
If you don't need the money right now then powering up or using savings are the best options. I have funds spread around Hive Engine too, so I can draw on that when necessary. I just like to power up my HIVE, but I will save some up for the start of each month as I like badges :)

To be honest I didn't join Hive for money in particular. I was attracted to being rewarded for content, but I had no expectation about making anything other than some small change. I just liked the idea of being on a decentralised platform, and learning about web3. I haven't really paid much attention to the financial side of things until recently. The bump in Hive certainly caught my attention. :)
Seeing all the ways that people like yourself are using Hive makes me realise just how much is going on. The badges haven't even been on my radar. I need to learn more.... I wish I was super technical, and also a financial guru. That would be useful!

Well I hope it is becoming clearer. Hive has lots of options and some people do not even do much of the social stuff. I am having fun with it and the rewards are a nice bonus. I guess I am fairly technical, but I struggle with some of the financial side. Still don't really understand DEFI stuff.
Well posts like this one definitely help, so thank you for that!
I don't understand DEFI, I haven't tried. Baby steps for me. :)
Nice. You've done well for yourself. Looks like your strategy is paying off. It's nice that you give back to the community as well - upvoting comments and such. That sort of thing is always appreciated :)
It's not just about what I can make. I want Hive to succeed and that means getting rewards to more people. We are stronger together.
Very true. Voting comments is kind of like the old bitcoin faucets in a way
Maybe, but comments have to be sincere. Just saying 'Nice post!' will not get a vote from me. We should vote to encourage the behaviour we want to see.
Yes. I totally agree with that and talked about that same principle in the past. Often you can tell what people are about by their comments. I also feel that a person should vote for the post if they make a comment. I hate it when people are like "I love your post!"
Apparently not enough to vote for it though, just enough to hope for a vote on their comment. Hahahaha
I didn't realize they release new cards at the beginning of each month. I am going to have to buy some packs soon I guess. I have a bit of Starbits saved up. I will likely wait until I can buy 36 packs or something like that.
There are usually new packs each month as some go out of print. There were more than usual this time.
Ah, okay, I will definitely need to take a look then.

Sounds like you’re having fun with that rising star game. I thought about playing it and collecting some cards but then got turned off somewhere along the line. Sounds like it would’ve been fun if I got into it. I’ve been slowly building my hive power as well. I put HBD in the savings but ended up pulling it out and buying some tokens on live engine. We’ll see. That’s nice part about hide there’s always something to do in somewhere to invest your coin.
Best wishes with the game! I hope you get all the car do you want someday 🤩.
There's a nice community around Rising Star and that matters to me. We do have lots of options in how we invest. I just can't get involved in everything that crops up.
My HIVE could buy me a nice car if I powered it all down, but I'm not doing that. Our old cars will do for now.
