My husband is retired now, and we are both on Medicare. We have always had a tight budget, because he was the sole provider while I stayed home and taught our children there. We have never been able to afford to do all the things we'd like to do, or go all the places we'd like to go. It's certainly not any better now! My heart goes out to those who have to choose between buying groceries and paying for a prescription.

Hi @scribblingramma, I spoke to a retired lady today whose husband was put on a chemo pill that will cost over $9k. With their insurance it is required of them to purchase the drug in advance they submit to us (the man's Medicare supplement. It is a tragic thing that they don't have outright prescription benefits. He worked as a teacher or state employee for the Pennsylvania education system and this is the coverage that they earn as a retiree. I hope the manufacturer can help (Pfizer).
