Marta Town and Lake Bolsena, Italy
Hello friends. After our trip to Capodimonte, we headed towards the town of Marta. We are in the Lazio region, not far from Rome. This town is home to Lake Bolsena. In fact, we came to this area because of the lake. We stayed in the neighboring city of Montefiascone but wanted to explore other nearby towns.
This is an ancient settlement, but it is very interesting because its architecture is quite different from that in southern Italy. We set off towards the lake. The buildings here are two or three stories high, with no tall structures. Everywhere is filled with stones, and the stones here are different from those in Apulia. The stones in Apulia are light-colored, white-yellowish, and somewhat grayish. The stones here are gray, making the houses look completely different.
We visited Lake Bolsena. It was a rainy day, so not many people were outside. There is a wonderful playground here where you can come and have fun with children. There are many dining spots. There was a stall that caught our interest with what they were selling. The tables had interesting African-themed items, selling small drums and baskets. There were plates and paintings, and they also sold scented soaps that smelled of citrus. Ducks were swimming in the lake; it is truly a peaceful place, very calm. It might not be like this on a sunny day, but when we went, it was really wonderful. By the way, swimming in this lake is also possible. The water is clean everywhere. We wanted to see what the beach was like, so we continued on our way.
There was another stall here. They were selling souvenirs, bags, and various citrus-scented products. There were also some old items that I couldn't make sense of.
There were nameplates for the house and wooden items labeled for keys. Bracelets and rings for children were being sold. We saw beautiful items for children and girls. There were people cycling and walking with their dogs here. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place.
In Bari, the temperature was between 36-40 degrees, and we didn't expect it to be this cold here. I only checked the weather by chance and noticed that it would be cool and rainy for a few days. So I bought myself a denim jacket. Otherwise, we would have frozen here in shorts and light clothes, because it was extremely hot in Bari. I never thought it would be this cold.
In the Lazio region, the lake and its surroundings are surrounded by hills. This is the crater of an ancient volcano, and now this beautiful lake is located here. Around it, there are interesting cities like Montefiascone, Marta, and Viterbo. There are islands in the distance, and we want to visit these islands. Tours are organized here. I will definitely share when we take a tour. As far as I understand, there are two private islands here. Since the tours are not conducted every day, it is necessary to make a reservation in advance. There are options such as walking on the island or just swimming around the island on the tours. Let's see how we will organize it.
The other day we walked around Montefiascone and got tired quickly. I guess because it was cold. So we will see how we will organize it. But we definitely want to swim. I don't know if we will tour the island. There are even fountains in the middle of the lake, very nice.
This place is really beautiful, I'm so glad we came here. The ducks impressed me a lot. It reminded me of the city of Gomel, where swans swim in a small pond in the park. These birds with long necks resemble swans. I think they are ducks but I am not sure. They also look like swans.
