Some Southern Red Bishops and a Malachite Sunbird.

A break in the rain and we nipped out for a short excursion.

Luckily two kinds of birds decided to pose for me on this windy overcast day. Photography was not easy due to the cloud changes between light and dark, but I took every chance that I could get.
Hope that you will enjoy the photos.

This was the famous Malachite Sunbird (Nectarinia famosa).

And this guy is a Southern Red Bishop (Euplectes orix)

This was when I first saw the Malachite at the top of the tree and he struggled to balance in the wind.

I saw the Red Bishops in the grass lands near a river.

The Malachite was singing; "The answer is blowing in the wind" about the wind telling them when the storm will end.

Oops! Even the Red Bishop lost his balance in the wind.

So, the Malachite decided to rather pop down inside the tree as he knew that the leaves will be a cover against the wind.

Unexpectedly, the sun was cleared for a moment and it lit up the tree like a Christmas light.

Oh yes, it is never easy to take photos on a day like this, as the light can play many tricks on one.

We are always thankful for the rain and for the past few months we have received tons of water. Even some drought areas in the country received rain and now there is new growth all over the place.
But all is not always what it seems as the rain can also bring many problems with it such as floods and deaths.
Even worse some areas have plagues of locusts destroying their crops and there are many other problems.

But then again, summer will be in full bloom soon and then the frying under the blazing African sun will start again.
So, whichever way one looks at it, the best is to count our blessings and to simply carry on.

First time I have seen such kind of beautiful birds. First birds color is so beautiful. The beaks of birds are very long. Looks so pretty. You have done a lot of beautiful photography.

Glad that I could show them to you. The Malachite birds have long beaks and their tongues are shaped like straws to drink nectar.

Have I seen the Red Bishop before? I'm not sure, but I would remember such a beautiful coloured bird - I love the colour orange 😍
All bad things have a good side and every good thing has also a bad side - how wouldyou say, my friend? Such is life but sometimes the bad sides are too bad.

So strange isn't it? In the past whenever we wanted to do something, we simply did it with no memory troubles. Nowadays I even forget what I wanted to say.
Embarrassing when you say to your wife, "Darling can you please ....? then she stands with a sorrowful look on her face. Then when you are in bed it suddenly strikes you that you wanted to ask her for the salt 🤣!LOLZ

Hahaha, no I don't hate cats my friend, I just hate the way that they catch our little sunbirds.

At least they only scratch and don't bite the furniture and other things.
Dingo used to sneak into the bathroom and I only knew that he was there when I saw my tooth brush laying in pieces on the floor 🤣 !LOLZ

Our old cat used the couch in the living room as scratch tree and the two new cats have finished his work. Since a few weeks we have a new couch, because the old one was really in a bad shape, and they didn't even try to scratch - funny, isn't it?

Maybe they scratched the old couch because they smelled that the old cat scratched it.
Now one of them hopefully will be the new cat that scratch the new couch 🤣

Well what you do is you buy a small bottle of TABASCO sauce. The red one.
Then you put it into a spray bottle and then everywhere that you don't want the cats to scratch, you simply spray it with a light coat of tobasco.
One sniff and they will never return to scratch there 🤣 !LOLZ

Well at least it will be good for you as then they will go and scratch the neighbor's things whenever they feel like scratching 🤣 !LOLZ

Well I have seen that a sprinkle of Cayenne powder works for dogs during house training. When a dog wees on a spot in the house, then simply dust the spot with the cayenne pepper. The dog will smell it, then have an almighty sneeze and he will never return to the spot 🤣

Luckily we don't have to spend, as we never have the money, but even if we did, we would not spend in the holidays. It is a fools paradise and in January so many will be broke again.
When my kids were small, we bought their presents in June and now that they are adults they do the same for their kids.

Hahaha, well you can always ask to work double shifts every day to support your growing family, as the neighbors family would also want their friends to get new couches 🤣
Or else you can start your own furniture factory 🤣🤣🤣 !LOLZ

The best thing to do as it is way off season and the prices are dropped very low in order to get sales.

Only 2 couches? More like 30 couches and they will demand the most expensive materials.
So the 15 that make for sale will have to pay for the materials of the 15 that you give away 🤣 !LOLZ

Both you and I know that it won't work and I think to spare you much expenses that should hire a young or youngish girl as a cat sitter. I know that we have baby sitters that hire out their services to look after the babies when the parents want a night out, so a cat sitter makes sense to me.

Just make sure that she is not sexy, as then with you around, the cats will still go and visit the neighbor to go and scratch his couch 🤣!LOLZ

Okay here goes, so the door creaks open very slowly and you see a piece of a satin nightgown stating to appear. "Good" You think that she is still in her pajamas and you are excited.
Then she sticks here head around the door and you almost faint at the sight.

As she stuck her head around she said, "Pleath come in". She is 80 years old and cannot say "Please", because she has no teeth.
Her lovely daughter left for South Africa and her mother was now in charge of her affairs at home.
End of story 🤣 !LOLZ
