[EN/PT] Exploring the Municipal Natural Park of Nova Iguaçu
Municipal Natural Park of Nova Iguaçu - The Geopark of Nova Iguaçu
[EN] Hey everyone! I'm super excited about today's post because I'm going to talk about one of my favorite places: the Nova Iguaçu Municipal Natural Park. It's where I take some time for myself, and whenever I can, I gather my friends to go hiking and enjoy the peace that the park offers.
The park is incredible and is located in the Mendanha Massif, encompassing the Mendanha, Gericinó, and Madureira mountains. It covers 1,100 hectares of pure Atlantic Forest, filled with wonderful waterfalls and pools.
You can access the park through two different entrances. If you love hiking and swimming in waterfalls, the South Entrance is ideal. You can get there via Nova Iguaçu, in the Caonze neighborhood, or via Mesquita, in the Coreia neighborhood. The main entrance is on Estrada da Cachoeira. In this access, you’ll find several waterfalls and pools, like the Véu da Noiva, which is also great for rappelling. The trails are well-marked and pass by historical points like the Dona Eugênia Farm and the ruins of the Dom Felipe club.
Now, if you're into adrenaline, the North Entrance in Bairro da Luz is perfect! There, you can enjoy hang gliding and paragliding from the Serra do Vulcão, negative rappelling on Pedra da Contenda, and mountain bike trails. But I’ll leave that for another post because today I want to show you the best and most beautiful waterfalls in the park.
I hope you enjoy it and feel inspired to visit this paradise!
[PT] Oi, pessoal!
O parque é incrível e fica no Maciço do Mendanha, abrangendo as serras do Mendanha, Gericinó e Madureira.

This helps prevent the entry of trash, chemicals, loudspeakers that disturb the animals, and so on. Additionally, it ensures everyone's safety.

[EN] This waterfall is called Poço das Cobras (something like "Snake Pool"). It's my favorite waterfall in the park. Despite the somewhat challenging trail, it's worth it for the incredible view and the chance to swim in the crystal-clear (and very cold!) water.
