Last Night in Soho - Paris can be a lot to a young girl...

I don't remember why I wanted to see Last Night in Soho, I mean, it was about a mystery, it was going to be Anya, Sam Claflin, Terrence, and Thomasin, but otherwise, I don't even remember having seen the trailer or the teaser, that is, I saw this movie with the least amount of information possible and I am very grateful that it was like that because then I would not have enjoyed it, I would not have been surprised and I would not have appreciated it as it should.

When so little is necessary to make you interested in watching a movie it means that something good has been done by those actors or directors, and in this case, that fact is more than justified, I have loved Anya since I first saw her in The Witch, and since then she has earned it with every dramatic role she has done, the last one being part of Queen's Gambit, an amazing series that no one should miss.

No recuerdo por qué quería ver Last Night in Soho, o sea, era sobre un misterio, iba a estar Anya, Sam Claflin, Terrence y Thomasin, pero de resto no recuerdo ni siquiera haber visto el trailer o el teaser, es decir, vi esta película con la menor cantidad de información posible y agradezco mucho que haya sido así, pues entonces no la hubiera disfrutado, no me hubiera sorprendido y tampoco la hubiera apreciado como se debe.

Cuando tan poco es necesario para que te interese ver una película significa que algo bueno han hecho esos actores, o directores, y en este caso está más que justificado ese hecho, he amado a Anya desde que la vi por primera vez en The Witch, y desde entonces se ha ganado con todos los papeles dramáticos que ha hecho, el último siendo parte de Queen's Gambit, una increíble serie que nadie debería perderse.

Last Night in Soho is the perfect example of what happens when someone leaves their comfort zone drastically without having prepared themselves believing that everything will be fine, although everything would have been fine if Ellie, our protagonist, didn't have that weird power she has, if her roommate hadn't been a total bitch, and if the room she moved into didn't have such a dense history, yes, everything would have been fine for Ellie when she went to Paris to study if all that would have been different.

Come to think of it, Last Night in Soho presents in a different way, fresher or better realized, more mature, perhaps, a compendium of many different little stories together, at least in my eyes, and that is that everything is already done in this world, we just don't all have that knowledge, so even if we are seeing something unique for the first time, that something unique, even without the intention of its creator, can become reminiscent of a large accumulation of past information that is in your subconscious and unconscious and comes to light in its creation, and there is nothing wrong with that, the bad thing is when you do plagiarism aware that you are doing it.

Last Night in Soho es el ejemplo perfecto de lo que sucede cuando alguien sale de su zona de confort drásticamente sin haberse preparado creyendo que todo va a salir bien, aunque todo hubiera salido bien si Ellie, nuestra protagonista, no tuviera ese poder raro que tiene, si su compañera de cuarto no hubiera sido una total perra desgraciada, y si a la habitación que se mudó no hubiera tenido una historia tan densa, sí, todo hubiera salido bien para Ellie cuando se fue a Paris a estudiar si todo eso hubiera sido diferente.

Pensándolo bien, Last Night in Soho presenta de una forma diferente, más fresca o mejor realizada, más madura, quizá, un compendio de muchas pequeñas historias diferentes juntas, al menos a mi parecer, y es que ya todo está hecho en este mundo, solo que no todos tenemos ese conocimiento, por lo que aunque estemos viendo algo único por primera vez, ese algo único, incluso sin la intención de su creador, puede llegar a tener reminiscencias de un gran cúmulo de información pasada que está en su subconsciente e inconsciente y sale a la luz en su creación, y no hay nada de malo en eso, lo malo es cuando se hace plagio consciente de que lo estás haciendo.

Thomasin won all my tenderness when I saw her dancing in that dress made out of newspaper, which let me tell you, it was amazing the fact that not a single piece came loose while she was jumping and skipping all over the house; she ended up winning my heart when even though a lot of things were against her, she was still giving her all in the best way possible because honestly speaking, I may be one of the most introverted and shy people you can meet, but I have a roommate like that and I swear I would at least send her to eat shit for the rest of her life, and you don't know the satisfaction when something like that happens in the movie, those who already saw it will know what part I'm talking about and probably agree with me, and they must also agree that that scene was very predictable.

Anya was Anya, nothing more to say, I love that her characters express themselves more through gestures and facial expressions than with words, that is a skill that few actors have or get to develop, for many everything resides in their voice, in what they say and how they say it, but in moments of silence or where only her face and body expression are what must communicate everything, they fail, and that is something that does not happen with Anya, she speaking or in silence is the best she can be, and it is a characteristic that all her characters possess, they bring out the wonder of her facial features and leave us drooling wanting more.

Thomasin se ganó toda mi ternura al verla bailar con ese vestido hecho de periódico, que déjenme decirles, fue increíble el hecho de que no se le soltara ni una sola pieza mientras saltaba y brincaba por toda la casa; se terminó de ganar mi corazón cuando a pesar de que muchas cosas estaban en su contra, ella seguía dando todo de sí misma en la mejor manera posible, porque hablando con honestidad, yo puedo ser una de las personas más introvertidas y tímidas que puedan conocer, pero tengo a una compañera de cuarto así y les juro que mínimo la mando a comer mierda por el resto de su vida, y no saben la satisfacción cuando algo así sucede en la película, aquellos que ya la vieron sabrán a que parte me refiero y posiblemente estén de acuerdo conmigo, y también deberán estar de acuerdo en que esa escena fue muy predecible.

Anya fue Anya, nada más que decir, amo que sus personajes se expresan más a través de gestos y expresiones de la cara que con palabras, esa es una habilidad que pocos actores tienen o llegan a desarrollar, para muchos todo reside en su voz, en lo que dicen y cómo lo dicen, pero en momentos de silencio o donde solo su rostro y su expresión corporal son lo que deben comunicar todo, fallan, y es algo que no sucede con Anya, ella hablando o en silencio es lo mejor que puede llegar a ser, y es una característica que todos sus personajes poseen, sacan a la luz la maravilla de sus facciones faciales y nos dejan babeando queriendo más.

Maybe this is a spoiler, but I don't care, one of my favorite scenes is the first time Ellie meets Sandie, the editing to make them both exchange in the mirrors so that they reflect each other and the time they are the same and I loved none of them, that's why I told you that I liked not even having seen the trailer, I already said this several reviews ago, but that kind of surprises made me feel like a small child who discovers something wonderful for the first time and the wonder is such that it is one of those memories to which one returns to find the happy place that improves our reality and saves us from the misfortunes that we have to live.

And sticking with that same scene, Sandie's dance with Jack? Fuck, not only because of how much Sandie enjoys it and how much she makes you enjoy it too, but that they switched the two of them doing the same dance steps, or rather, following the dance steps that the other one left halfway through when she disappeared off-camera, and they seemed to me so well executed that it seems that everything was a sequence shot and not editing, or maybe it was and there was no editing, anyway, I don't know, but I do know that I liked it, despite the small mistakes that are seen on camera, or maybe they are not mistakes and make us believe that they are. .. oh, now, I continue, and I read again what I wrote in this one and I don't know what the fuck is in my mind, but I'm too lazy to edit.

Quizás esto sea spoiler, pero no me importa, una de mis escenas favoritas es la primera vez que Ellie conoce a Sandie, la edición para hacer que ambas se intercambien en los espejos, para que se reflejen la una a otra y la vez sean la misma y ninguna me encantó, por eso les dije que me gustó no haber visto ni siquiera el trailer, esto ya lo dije hace varias reseñas atrás, pero ese tipo de sorpresas me hizo sentir como un niño pequeño que descubre algo maravilloso por primera vez y la maravilla es tal que es uno de esos recuerdos a los que se vuelve para encontrar el lugar feliz que mejora nuestra realidad y nos salva de las desgracias que hay que vivir.

Y siguiendo con esa misma escena, ¿el baile de Sandie con Jack? Joder, no solo por lo mucho que se lo disfruta Sandie y lo mucho que hace que uno lo disfrute también, si no que se hayan intercambiado las dos haciendo los mismos pasos de baile, o mejor dicho, siguiendo los pasos de baile que la otra dejaba a la mitad cuando desaparecia de cámara, y me parecieron tan bien ejecutados que parece que todo fue un plano secuencia y no una edicioón, o quizás si lo fue y no hubo edición, en fin, no lo sé, pero sí sé que me gustó, a pesar de los pequeños errores que se ven en cámara, o quizás no son errores y nos hacen creer que lo son... ay, ya, continuo, y vuelvo a leer lo que escribí en este y no sé qué carajos hay en mi mente, pero me da flojera editar.

The terror, the suspense, the mystery, the blood, and the special effects were up to the mark, the truth, I did not expect them, and although it could be said that they were not the best made in the world of cinema, they are in accordance with the story that was being told, they were not excessive enough to overshadow the film, they were not bad enough to ruin the film, they were just right, no more, no less.

In short, Last Night in Soho is a movie that can be enjoyed from beginning to end, it is not the best, but it is definitely better than 70% of movies that are on the market today, there you have the trailer, watch it, or not, watch the movie, yes, and I must say that I did not like Ellie's dresses at all, otherwise, the ending is very good, predictable, but good.

El terror, el suspenso, el misterio, la sangre, y los efectos especiales estuvieron a la altura, la verdad, no los esperaba, y aunque se podría decir que no fueron los mejores hechos en el mundo del cine, son acordes a la historia que se estaba contando, no fueron excesivos como para eclipsar a la película, no fueron malos como para arruinar la película, fueron justos, sin más, ni menos.

En definitiva, Last Night in Soho es una película que se puede disfrutar de principio a fin, no es la mejor, pero definitivamente es mejor que el 70% de películas que hay en el mercado actual, ahí tienen el trailer, véanlo, o no, vean la película, eso sí, y debo decir que los vestidos de Ellie no me gustaron en absoluto, de resto, el final es muy bueno, predecible, pero bueno.
