Hello! From Sydney (Australia)

We have arrived back on land am I familiar with. It's the land I spent part of my childhood and much of my adult life living on. Where I walked tonight with my love is in Dharug country (the name of the Aboriginal language group who lived here before "colonisation"). Today it is more widely known as "Sydney Olympic Park"; a suburb created specifically to host the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000.

We landed in Sydney around lunchtime and after picking up a hire car we drove through the (continuing) rain straight to my Mum's house. I got to hug her for the first time in almost 12 months. So good. It appears she missed me, which is nice. I don't know why I would think otherwise but for some reason, it always kind of surprises me that she's really happy to see me. Is that weird?

Anyway, soon enough it was time to head over here, check-in at the hotel, get dinner and then with full bellies we went for a cruise around the area... in the drizzling, light rain. Lucky it's warm ;)

A First Nations "hello".

And proof that I didn't just sit on planes, trains and automobiles all day ;)
