The Blue Temple - a vibrant and magical destination in Chiang Rai! If you've ever heard of the White Temple in Chiang Mai, then you definitely can't miss this Blue Temple. Its special feature is the delicate combination of vibrant blue and modern architectural beauty.
Situated near the famous Chivit Thamma Da coffee shop, in the Rimkok district of Chiang Rai, this temple has a fascinating backstory behind its name "Rong Suea Ten" which makes it even more special. It originated from locals discovering an old piece of paper in the old temple grounds, with two Thai words "ร่อง" (channel) and "เสือ" (tiger) combined with "เต้น" (dance), forming "Rong Suea Ten" - the channel of dancing tigers. This is the inspiration behind the name "Wat Rong Suea Ten".
Completed in 2015 and open to visitors since 2016, the Blue Temple has become a remarkable attraction.
The pagoda is blue in color - I have never seen it before and I guess you have too, which is why this pagoda attracts so many tourists. I had 3 days and 2 nights to travel to Thailand and explore this Buddhist country.
This blue temple also impresses with its unique architecture both inside and out. Navy blue combined with sparkling gold and sophisticated statues and patterns create a sacred and very unique space.
Take a look inside the temple, I guess you will be fascinated by the exquisite paintings and unique patterns, depicting the life of Buddha. The ceiling is elegantly decorated, creating a peaceful atmosphere for anyone who visits this place. When you enter here, you will see an ancient and solemn space like going to a fairyland.
I was lucky to have the opportunity to visit the Green Temple, which was not only a religious experience but also an opportunity to explore the unique cultural and artistic beauty of Thailand. This is definitely a destination not to be missed when you come to Chiang Rai, don't miss it!
The White Temple
or Wat Rong Khun, is like no other in Thailand.Using white as the main color tone, this pagoda stands out amidst the green trees and blue sky. Nestled in Ban Rong Khun along Phahonyothin Road at Km 816, this temple is a beacon of tranquility just 13 kilometers south of Chiang Rai's city center.
Built in 1997 by the visionary Chalermchai Kositpipat, - a famous Thai architect and artisan. The White Temple is an ongoing masterpiece, with additional structures planned for completion by 2070. This temple includes 9 structures: the main hall, prayer halls, museum, monks' living quarters, and more
Wat Rong Khun is a temple with a complex architectural structure. Symbolic elements of Buddhism such as the Naga snake and vivid murals depicting the life of Buddha are highlighted to enhance the sacredness of this temple.
The temple has an area of 12,000 square meters. This large and majestic temple is always the destination of many tourists who want to explore spiritual beauty.
Crossing the "cycle of rebirth" bridge to enter the main hall is an experience in itself, surrounded by a large pond with fountains and white Koi fish symbolizing the Si Tarndon River.
Inside the main hall, visitors will see a warm, sacred space with exquisite Buddha statues and works of art by many different artists.
One highlight that often surprises visitors is the lavishly designed restroom facilities, a striking golden structure amidst the white color.
When coming to Thailand, don't forget to visit Iconsiam Bangkok, this place is known as a shopping and entertainment paradise located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. However, remember that this place is very crowded so take care of your belongings, I lost my phone on this trip, this made me very miserable because I left all my coins I'm on the exchanges, my phone is like all my assets.
ICONSIAM is not only a luxury shopping center, but also a gathering place of Thai culture and cuisine. One special thing I like about ICONSIAM is SOOKSIAM, which is a floating market inside the building. The price is very reasonable you should try it.
At SOOKSIAM, I experienced delicious Thai snacks such as coconut water cake (khanom krok), spicy crab meat at extremely attractive prices. With less than 100 Baht, I was able to enjoy a variety of dishes and feel full.
Some dishes you should eat when coming to Thailand:
Daeng Daeng – Thai Curry
A dish that's making waves among tourists visiting Thailand is Gaeng Daeng. This is a dish that combines the famous green curry and red curry, have you tried it yet?
Different from Indian curry, Thai curry boasts a creamy texture and distinctive aroma of coconut milk, without the strong scent of cinnamon. Typically cooked with herbs like lime leaves, bamboo shoots, garlic, and green chilies, curry pairs perfectly with chicken, seafood, or beef.
Red curry is rich and spicy, often prepared with chicken breast and a sauce packed with plenty of chili. It's best enjoyed with white rice or bread if you like a "mouth-burning" sensation. If you're not fond of spice, try green curry - it's the perfect alternative. Thai green curry usually comes with fish balls, pork, beef, or chicken and is often eaten with noodles, offering a delightful experience not only in taste but also in culinary enjoyment.
Thai Dried Fruit served with ice cream
Thailand truly is a tropical fruit paradise in Southeast Asia. That's why there are so many varieties of dried fruits here, especially when they're served with rich creamy ice cream and honey spread on bread. That sounds like a nutritious breakfast, doesn't it?
Thai milk tea
Thailand is also an extremely famous country with teas such as red Thai tea and green Thai tea, extremely attractive teas with reasonable prices and delicious flavors. Price = 1 USD
Spicy ribs
Very famous dish when talking about Thai cuisine. In Thailand, it is called Laeng Sab, this delicious dish with the main ingredient being giant spicy ribs, this dish is often cleverly arranged with large pieces of ribs with green onions and chopped chili. The soft, aromatic taste of pork blends perfectly with the spicy taste of green chili, creating an unforgettable flavor.
ice cream With Pancakes
A dessert full of flavor that will surely make you fall in love from the first time you eat it
That has been my experience of Thailand. It can be said that this is a country with diverse culture, delicious food, and super cheap travel services. Food is cheaper than Vietnam, a beautiful country and friendly people 🫣🤗
