TravelWriteMoney.com on Travelfeed Hosting
We are experimenting with TravelFeed.io web hosting. They offer two options. You can set up a subdomain such as twm.Truvvl.blog to host your website. Or, you can message the team after you have set up the subdomain for DNS settings to point to your site. You can now visit the new TravelWriteMoney.com.
Alternative Hosting Options
There are alternative options for hosting your Hive website. For example, DBlog.org offers a few different templates for operating your website. We were hosting on Dblog prior to switching to Truvvl. In fact, we still have a personal blog there. However, the templates available do not fit the needs of Travelwritemoney. Much of the possible customization is done with tags and images. DBlog is great for simple, blog-like websites.
Another alternative is Exxp.io, which is a Wordpress plug-in. This option gives you the most customizable web hosting. Along with that is a variety of other problems inherent in operating a website. One such trouble is plug-in compatibility when Wordpress does one of their infinite updates. This is not something we are willing to accept. It seems silly to pay for hosting, pay for themes, pay for customization, and also have to keep paying for repairs.
Another alternative is more costly. But, it is potentially more fun. Setting up a
Tribaldex Outpost could be the way to establish a thriving community for your domain. This can include token rewards and other customization. Going this route requires a good investment in both time and money. But, potentially, you would have other Hivers help you create posts related to your website.
Travelfeed Selling Points
What ultimately convinced us to go with Travelfeed for hosting are similar interest, customization, and low cost. As a travel website, Travelfeed shares a core theme with our blog. Therefore, they have built their hosting towards that focus. This means that the customization options directly address what we would need. For the moment, hosting is free. Travelfeed expects to start charging somewhere between $10 to $15 monthly for hosting, which is reasonable. This is worthwhile to us because we have no responsibility for installing updates, fixing plug-ins, or hiring developers to customize anything.
Something forgotten above is that Travelfeed developed the Truvvl app, which posts directly to Travelfeed and our blog. This app permits simple blog updates with images. The more useful feature is that it also incorporates the location data that gives Travelfeed more utility.
Syndication
Hivers are already aware. However, non-Hivers should know that Hive blogs come with built-in syndication. For example, posting on the Truvvl app makes that post available on our hosted site, Travelfeed, Ecency, Peakd, Hive.blog, and potentially other Hive front ends, if we use the proper tags. In other words, it comes with a built-in audience.
Overall, we hope to make the best of our new hosted home. We are working out the customization. But, we expect that we should be able to share travel-related posts much easier than in the past.
Cheers!
I've been using the term, "It's the one login to rule them all!" and "The Hive Blockchain is like a city. All the buildings and houses in the city limits are part of the city. So as long as you are on Hive all the dApps you post to are connected by your one account because they are all in the same blockchain."
The first one made the most sense to me, but I had to come up with the second one because people who are not Lord of the Rings savvy couldn't grasp the concept. The city version seems to be gaining more traction.
However, I like the way you put it: Syndication.
It's difficult to come up with an analogy. In reality, Hive is just a blockchain. What gives Hive value is what is built on it. But, I think most users don't care about the technical aspects. They have more practical and immediate concerns.
