Let's all be PAL's

I'm not really me anymore, but is anyone online real anyway?

It's been about 10 months since I mostly stopped posting on Steemit as @sift666 and swapped over to @frot

And then not long after I began powering down all four of my Steemit accounts because I think the platform is corrupt to the core and probably in its final months.
But like most old timers I never fully gave up my addiction, and although I stopped doing posts directly to Steemit, I did keep sharing some of my WordPress blog posts using the Steempress app.
Recently my Steemit friend @dreemit told me about a new parallel universe called Palnet. I'm no geek so I'm not going to go on about it much here, but here is a good post to start with:
https://www.palnet.io/palnet/@juliakponsford/palnet-the-dazed-and-confused-user-guide
Here is the site itself:
https://www.palnet.io
And here is a whitepaper about whole concept:

My latest conspiracy theory is that those who control Steemit from deep inside its moldy festering sphincter are trying to drive the few remaining real users off the platform so that they can fully take it over with all their thousands of bots and steal as much reward money as possible (truckloads).
And one of their latest ways of doing that is to piss off the remaining real users off with "featured posts" where they force everyone to see four of their boring shitposts at the top of our feeds with no way to mute, delete, or block the damn things. And then they upvote those crappy posts with their hundreds of bots but magnanimously decline payment for them.

I have very few remaining friends still posting on Steemit, but I still keep having these random hopes that the good old days could somehow be revived.
So I am now watching Palnet with interest - OK its probably another scam and could rapidly turn to shit, but call me the eternal optimist :) - it does have some good bits at this point. A lot less bots, less whales, and no "featured posts" for starters.
To start with the quality of the posts on my feed is certainly better, but who knows how long that will last for - dickheads can quickly learn to put "palnet" tags on their posts too.
But it's the best alternative to Steemit I've seen so far - I rapidly lost hope in Pocketnet

If you have a current Steemit account with some Steem Power you may be able to claim some Palcoins.
You can check if you have coins to claim by visiting https://steem-engine.com and looking for the little PAL icon on the upper left.
The instructions are to "just click and claim your coins" but I found it didn't work in Firefox or Chrome. Luckily when I did it in Opera it worked fine and I got my 230 Palcoins - they are currently worth 16 cents so that was US$36.80 of tokens.

Once you have claimed, then refresh the page and they should appear in your wallet. To stake the coins (this is needed to upvote palnet posts) click the little lock icon on the right side and choose to stake a specified number of coin.

Good to hear from you. I am not sure where things are going to go.

THIS!

Being threatened on a "free speech" platform that if you reply to a commenter, they will do bad things. And then upvoted themselves.

I do not believe that your theory is a theory.

so, you are posting using steempress because if you posted this on steemit you would immediately get flagged - right? I have not had any of these experiences - like these featured posts - you just click the red x and they go away but I would like to use palnet.io but I can't see my blog with any browser, so far: brave, firefox, opera, ... or flashjet even - although I can see my wallet and feed just fine. I even added ausitbank's new extension - palnetify to firefox but when I go to view my blog, it switches me to steempeak. Weird.

I post everything on my Wordpress blog first because it has a much better editor and it means my post is part of my own website and stored on my own server - then by tagging it Steempress a copy is automatically is shared to Steemit, and now with a Palnet tag as well it gets shared on Palnet too - so my post is on three platforms.

With the featured posts I can hit the X and get rid of them, but next day after I have restarted the computer they will be back again. And if I have four accounts logged into four different browsers that happens every time - so that is up to four featured posts on four browsers every day - 16 times hit the X each day... That is just an extra incentive not to use the platform.

One or two posts I was trying to ignore, but four takes up my whole feed, and just makes the initial impression of the platform negative every visit - no accident I'm sure!

I don't use Steempeak because it is very limited on how many images you can post, so no use to me, and Busy is a totally crap interface IMHO, so Palnet which has the Steemit interface with less bullshit, is of interest.

but what browser are you using? I downloaded opera today and still cannot see my blog on palnet. I can see everything else, but it switches me to steempeak when I hit "blog" -

Did you tag your post with a "palnet" tag?

I figured it out- yes you were right - I just had not used the tag, thanks!

You know who is actually going to make a killing from all this blogging stuff one day? The clever people who find a way to charge future generations for a glimpse into their ancestors lives.

I know I'd pay good money for that if it were an option, to peruse the daily lives of my great great's!

One of mine wrote a book about his life - I read the first chapter but got bored :)

I hear you, but it's not the same. Take your blog for instance- I highly doubt ancestors of yours would find it boring! "Great great great Uncle Ian was an eccentric, entertaining, deep thinking cool ass dude!"
