X, formerly Twitter, is introducing an annual fee for new users to combat bot activity.

Musk's decision to introduce a fee for new users is a controversial move. Some argue that it is a necessary measure to combat the problem of bots on the platform, while others believe that it is an unfair restriction on legitimate users.

It recently announced that the platform will start charging an annual fee for new users who want to create an account. This measure, called "Not A Bot", is primarily aimed at combating spam, manipulation and, in particular, bot activity on the platform.

The tax is currently being tested in two countries, New Zealand and the Philippines, and could be expanded to other countries in the future depending on the success of the initiative.

  • For users who prefer not to pay the fee, X will offer the option to create an account with limited functionality. These users will be able to read posts, follow videos and accounts, but will not be able to post their own content or interact with others' posts.

That fee will create a barrier for those who want to create fake or spam accounts. It will also encourage legitimate users to register with real contact information.

However, there are also some disadvantages to this measure. The fee could be perceived as an unfair restriction on legitimate users, especially those who cannot afford to pay. It's also possible that bots could be programmed to avoid the charge - why couldn't they!!?

  • For example, bots could be programmed to generate content that appears to be created by humans. Also, bots could be controlled by people who are willing to pay the fee.

First, bots may not be the only problem facing the platform. For example, X is also affected by spam, manipulation and a lot of misinformation due to the presence of many political figures ~ those figures are the main causes of all the negativity that can unfold on social media platforms.

In general, social media platforms can be used to spread hate speech, harassment and other forms of abuse. They can also be used to promote hatred and violence ~ and political figures play a role in spreading spam, manipulation and misinformation on social media platforms (to promote a figure's political agenda or to denigrate political opponents).

  • Just one piece of advice ~ Don't be aggressive, be aware and critical, don't believe everything you see or read on social media platforms. Insistent propaganda destroys value and authenticity.

Ok, that's an interesting reaction😊 Hard to believe that the ex-Twitter will suffer enormously about that tax. I say this because Musk owns and is active in numerous fields of activity, and i suspect that the former Twitter will be like a huge hub of customers that he will attract with the help of the diversity of products and utilities that he repeatedly promotes. That X will continue to persist in being present in the online environment even if it will no longer have the users it currently has.!PGM !LOOLZ !MEME

Why will they do that? I don't think people may be willing to pay for such but at the same time, people can be very surprising
They may actually pay

I don't know...I don't like the idea that Musk wants to implement either. I suspect this is just trying to eliminate a category of people who are stubborn ~ no way it will eliminate negativity. It seems to be more of a thought out selection. Regardless of what one might say, i personally perceive the former Twitter as a useless application that represents Web2.0. It is trying to do something for the future of its products and its customers, but that's all. What they offer is not really for everyone (it's just a simple selection, by making such a monthly or annual fee) !PGM !LOOLZ !MEME
