Over the year, I've accumulated tons and tons of photos. Most of them with the smartphone camera, given how practical it is: being able to snap photos with something you normally carry with you gives you a ton of opportunities to captue that scene that would normally be lost, since we don't carry a traditional camera everyday.

The downsides: quality is not top-notch, especially in older phones; and given how easy and accessible it is, the amount of photos you end up taking (sometimes of the same setting) grows to absurdity!

Upgrading to a decent computer recently is causing these two downsides to slap me in the face: the old computer was already too slow to sort through all the photos, and I ended up letting them pile and not giving them the necessary attention. Now that I can see everything instantly, I'm realising the amount of utterly crappy photos I've been stacking up! Either because they're really bad but the slugishness of sorting them made me endlessly procrastinating the task, or due to the fact that they look great in the smartphone screen, ok-ish on my old computer... but not that ok-ish in my brand new full HD 23' monitor!

Now seeing the bright side: sorting through some of the old folders that were sooo crowded, I've been rediscovering a ton of photos that I thought were lost!

Oldies but awesome! Like this one in a viewpoint in the Phi Phi Don island, a postcard photo; this one was almost 10 years ago! And the sunset in one of the island's bays, a few hours later:

Even if not the best photo quality, these flashbacks make all the photo sorting worthwhile!

Almost as cool as the Thailand photos, were the national ones: ten years ago, I challenged my cousin to to a road trip on the southwest part of Portugal. Portugal has a huge coastal line, and the southwest is filled with small fishing villages and countless beaches, some of them practically wild.

I had no idea where those photos were... until now! We followed the coast, stopped in two different locations, and used them as a base to go on a beach hunt. I lost track of how many beaches we discovered then; some of them were not even on the map, I remember one of the hostels where we stayed had a guide with gps coordinates of different wild beaches, and indications like "after X Kms, turn right at the electricity post, follow the dirt road, turn left on the big rock, etc..."; and you ended up in places like these, almost deserted.

Other beaches are known, but since they're not that accessible, end up being visited by few people, or by the surfers if the conditions are good.

This one is Odeceixe, considered on of the most beautiful beaches of the country.

And this one... I have completely forgot the name! 😅

Not only beaches were to be seen in this part of the country: storks nesting on the cliffs is not something you see everyday!

With so many photos to go through, I'm curious of the pearls I'm bound to find; so many memories I though were lost. Worry not, I'll be sure to share the worthy ones!

Thanks! Weather here is finally sunny, today it was really hot! These beaches are awesome, and to see how uncrowded these are, these photos were taken in mid June! I missed them last year, but will try to revisit some of them soon. Cheers! !BEER

Fun shots! Those beaches really remind me of California. But its even more effort to find ones without crowds of people in Cali.

This part of the country is heaven for the ones (like me) that prefer quiet beaches. Plus, nature all around in most of them! !PIZZA
