What is Indoctrination?
Hey everyone, I hope you have a weekend which is full of interesting experiences. In my new contribution I would like to go into a topic that has been accompanying people for centuries and I hope you are able to learn new things.
Indoctrination is about influencing people's behaviour and specifically it's about shaping consciousness or the entire way of thinking in a certain direction. In pretty much all cultures, traces can be found that show how deeply the topic is anchored and indoctrination can be seen when it comes to planting images or values in people's minds and it's from the point of view of a ruling system one of the most important instruments to exercise control. A good example in which indoctrination can be seen is the education sector in which it's essentially about preparing people for a system or anchoring religious beliefs in such a way that they also influence the way of life of the individual in the later course. In the original times of the education sector, the principle of indoctrination was generally closely linked to religion and it was about anchoring these values or beliefs in such a way that they should work for a lifetime and there are countless methods that were used for this that differed from culture to culture, but had the same goal of creating people who turned to religions. Indoctrination can also be described as a political instrument in which the entire way of thinking of humanity is targeted with emotions in order to shape the worldview and it's distinguished between different kinds in which a short-term or deep form can be roughly distinguished and an example of a normal form of indoctrination is the spreading of information such as through the media and even if it's about creating long-term images through the combination with other instruments, it's easier to break away from it than if the indoctrination happens over a longer period of time and deeply eats into human brains.
The deep form of indoctrination is about exerting influence on people without them recognising it and the focus here is the psyche of the human being and the goal of a deep form is to change the whole behaviour and this in a subtle way. Deep-seated forms of indoctrination are exercised over a long period of time and the goal is that people should not recognise it, which means that it's not possible or very difficult to get away from it than normal forms that can be seen in everyday life that are often forgotten after a week. Roughly speaking, it can be said that it's relevant in all areas where it comes to creating images and to explain it briefly, an indoctrination is about transferring the opinion of one's own to others and which techniques are used for this have changed greatly over the years and nowadays it can be observed how much indoctrination is carried out through different forms of media, which has also been reinforced by digitisation.
Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this topic! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
Indoctrination is still done nowadays in the school, as humans teachers have their own opinions and so are biased
It's also a term for lessons or instructions which are often misinterpreted in essence. Basically, indotrination is neither positive nor negative, it always depends on the view of things as well as the areas in which it can be seen. Often a criticism of indotrination is that no other opinions are allowed and the word is closely linked to the education of people in modern times. I did not want to go into such detail on the topic and have tried to collect a rough overview, it's definitely difficult to clarify the topic in one small contribution and school is only an example, which of course is historically strongly rooted when it comes to indoctrination. I partly agree with you and partly disagree, there is a kind of curriculum in many countries that specifies the material, it's not always the opinion of the teacher, which is passed on to the students. Teachers are often very limited and even if the teacher would be more open on certain topics, there are many restrictions and in the education system there are generally many points that can be improved, often the opinions of the teachers are rather suppressed. Good to know that you are also interested in the topic dear @davideownzall
Recently, a dictator was overthrown from the power in Bangladesh after a mass movement. The regime tried to establish their ideology from nursery to university level! But, interestingly, the students were the big factor in the movement. If their effort was something similar to indoctrination, then it failed 100%!
Thanks for the post. I learned something new here.
