The dirtiest train window of 'em all | Ramblings about a photo book under construction
As far as Dirty Train Windows goes... This one trumps them all. I took this shot from a train in the South of Slovakia - while looking for the bathroom I noticed we were in the last train carriage, which had a back window. I waited a bit until we were more or less outside of the city, and had a nice opportunity to take the shot with another train just inside the view.
Thanks to the black part on the left of the shot I find this could easily become the cover of my Dirty Train Windows photo book, as the black part could be where I write down the title of the book and my name. Other artists might be better than me at collaborating with for example a dedicated book designer, but I'm one of those people who wants to be in control of every part of the process - except for the printing, as I simply don't have the means to buy the machines that would produce the best quality book pages.
But I do of course request paper samples of every printer I ever use...
Anyway, I'm seriously considering using this shot to design the cover of my book, which should be fun as it will make it one step closer to becoming a real thing. I'm a slow creator, but that doesn't bother me, especially with these series which are a result of travels it just means more shots of a wider variety of destinations getting included... Plus, the longer I wait with selecting which shots make it in the book the less emotionally attached I am to the shots. Right after coming back from my travels each photo is a little spark to those magical weeks away from home, which makes each shot feel 'better' than they might actually be.
Just some thoughts that come up while thinking about the shape of the upcoming photo book
A short reminder of some of the contents of the book, all published on the Steem Blockchain before:
I am still considering broadening the topic from 'Train Windows' to 'Dirty Windows' from moving vehicles in general, as I have some great shots from buses and trams and even cars and planes as well, which have the same look and feel. But I used the title 'Through a Dirty Train Windows' for so long now, that it feels like a huge turn, even though it isn't. Just a project in constant development, literally and figuratively :-)
Very cool shot. I'm heading towards Slovakia soon. Any tips or "unmissable" places? 😉
Ohhh - Are you going to travel by car or train? Slovakia is the country of Castles, so if you like that sort of thing you should go by car. If you're (like me) more going by train I could definitely recommend going from Bratislava to Poprad (to see some of the Tatras by cable car/hiking if you want/can) and then Kosice - The cities are gorgeous, Banska Bystrica is gorgeous as well, and Banska Stiavnica I didn't get to for several reasons but is supposed to be even better (UNESCO heritage on volcanic ground). Let me know what your plans are :-)
did you visit the weird bar/restaurant that looks like it is made from a church? later we found out it was never a church :D
Also Irish pub, just seen that this place is closed, it was a weird experience, as we found it at 4AM and it was the only thing that was working. but the look was :)
this image is not upside down :)
YES! Had an anazing hot dog there and crispy potatoes with Cheddar - lol! Really looks like a church and there’s a second tower behind it :-)

i was sure that it is a church. but then found out it was a mill or something like that. pretty fenci for a mill :D
That looks awesome! 😎
I'm going to travel by bus and train. Hmmm, Banska Bystrica is near one of the places I'll visit, so I'll keep your suggestion in mind and head there, if I have the time.
I'm going to be a couple of days in Zvolen, then Banská Štiavnica, Nitra and Bratislava. I think Kocise and Proprad are a bit off my way already.
Thanks for the tips. 😃
You might also want to see Bojnice. The castle is a true fairytale stuff :)
that window adds the old feeling to the photo :D and it could be a cover for the book.
'Through a Dirty Train Windows' sounds good. would it be cheating if you add buses and cars but still leave the title? :D
Hahaha - that would be cheating! But yeah, I like the 'Dirty Train Windows' title as well... And I sort of want to keep that one. Maybe I can do 80% trains and do a sort of Bonus Chapter with shots from other vehicles, I think in comparison I do have less of them, so it would make sense and I wouldn't have to 'lie' about the shots :-) What do you think?
the bonus thing could work. it would not feel like cheating :)
I think it's a great idea that this photograph is the cover of your book. You have had a good eye and you have imagined well where the title goes, I congratulate you. I hope you will soon have in your hands the fruit of your excellent photography work, @soyrosa.
Nice pictures.
One would think that you should avoid windows when taking a photo, but you make the window the reason for the photo.
I love these dirty train windows they give such a nostalgic feeling <3 I included you in my weekly curation Ocean of Art!
Ohhh - thanks a lot @juliakponsford! :D Really good feeling to be added to your weekly curation. Yes, the nostalgia is real with these grainy shots! Cheers!

En lo particular me encanta mirar por las ventanas cuando llueve. Además ver los atardeceres por el espejo del carro y capturarlos. Saludos
