Bozzlife: Random Phone Photography

About a week or so ago I was walking from the parking lot to my office one morning. I glanced over at the wall and saw something stuck to it. At first I thought it was just a clump of grass that had gotten thrown up there by the lawn mower. Soon I realized it was some kind of insect.

I am not kidding, this thing was a big as my hand! Given its size and menacing looks, I quickly snapped a shot and retreated to my office. I kind of forgot about it until the other day when I decided to do a Google search and see if I could figure out what this was.

It turns out it was a Dobsonfly. It sounds like the aren't nearly as dangerous as they look, but I still hope I never come across one again in my lifetime!

@mrsbozz and I have been trying to put some finishing touches on our deck now that we had it redone last Summer. We found a pretty good deal on some hanging lights in the Fall so we went ahead and purchased them.

This Summer I finally got around to opening the boxes and tackling the task of hanging them. We were going to sell that pergola, but it wasn't going to work out for the buyer in the end so we decided to keep it.

I think they turned out really cool and I like how they are the old Edison style bulbs. I thought they were supposed to be LED but it turns out they are incandescent. We will see how that impacts our electric bill in the coming months...

I took this picture of one of our rose bushes after we had spent the day doing some mulching. I am pretty sure I wrote a post about it. I am pretty impressed with how nice and sharp of a picture my phone can take even though it is a couple of years old.

As usual, @mrsbozz and I have been camping quite a bit this Summer. That takes away time we can spend sitting on our deck but it is also nice to visit other areas of the state and enjoy nature.

One of our favorite parts of camping is having a fire. No matter how hot the weather is, we still gather around the campfire at night and spend time just enjoying the glow.

Finally, it wouldn't be a proper post of random pictures in my phone gallery without a shot or two of Jovi. She gets pretty excited when we take her camping, she pants the whole ride and will only settle down when we are on the expressway. She still never shuts her eyes though.

IMG_20190709_203200.jpg

Once we get to the campground it is a different story. It takes her a couple of hours but eventually she settles in and resumes her regular napping schedule. Some of my favorite times camping are during mid-day when @mrsbozz goes in the trailer to take a nap while Jovi and I stay out under the awning and catch a little shut-eye ourselves.

I've gotta be honest, I have been doing a pretty crappy job of being an ambassador for @boid lately. That is one of the pitfalls of committing to something during my Summer time. Season 2 of Boid starts on 7/21/2019. Head over to the Boid site with my referral link and install the desktop app today.

Thank you, yeah, I can honestly say I have never seen a bug like that before in my life. It was pretty reality shaking :) It's going to be a hot one this weekend, but I am looking forward to some more relaxing around the fire...

You should have put your finger there so we could see how big that bug was! They are all boring and titchy here.

Do you know what the word means without looking? Be honest now!

Nope, you got me on that one. I don't know that word :)

When I lived over there, I got friendly with a dude named Jim. This isn't a joke..

I deliberately used to use Britishism's on him such as this word. We have a mass of them, but I don't tend to use them here.

Now you can use 'titchy' when you visit here, cant you?

You bet! Maybe when I run into a Bobby, I can say he seems pretty titchy compared to US cops!

LOL, probably not the best use for it. Cops here don't have much humour at times.

That is one massive bug. I bet if you squashed it, you'd have a mess on your hands... literally. Our family really enjoys camping, though we don't get out much, maybe once or twice a year. We almost had a campfire last night, but it gets dark so late, it was pretty much time for bed when it got dark.

Yeah, the days should be getting shorter and shorter pretty soon. I can't believe it is almost August already. Do you guys camp mostly at state parks? I have only camped in one state park in southern Michigan. It was kind of unimpressive.

Well, I think your dog Jovi keeps her eyes open all the time just to make sure you don't leave anywhere without her. hehe

Your deck looks like a pretty cool place to have dinner or just enjoy some fresh air. Maybe even stare at the stars at night. :)

We are a little too close to the city of Midland to see too many stars. Lots of light pollution! Jovi is a pretty special puppy. We have tried so many things to help her anxiety. CBD oil is a possible next step...

Well, I am sure just looking up at a nice day would be awesome as well. Well, too much light pollution is one of the drawbacks of living in the modern world.

She does seem like an awesome friend to have around. Maybe CBD is the next step yes. It is one of the most natural things you can actually give her. I sure hope it will help her. :)

Deck, fire and especially the dog look wonderful!

I am a big fan of Edison lights too. They are so warm and inviting. ☺️

I like them too. If my power bill is too much I might have to find some LED style ones.
