Your Monthly Zekely?!

How the hell is it possible that I have only had one Zekely Review in the last 47 days? I have posted plenty in the last month but somehow not gotten around to looking back on memories & experiences to share with the Hive community for inspiring conversation and gigantic crypto rewards.

What does a month of spring hold in Canadia after a long winter? Impossible to contain in a single blog post but here are a few random pictures and stories that all happened with 5km of my house.

GOLF!

IMG_4386.jpg

We have had a couple opportunities to get out golfing this spring and the latest was with the Chamber of Commerce for the annual Golf Tournament. It is a rather pricey event to attend but well worth the investment when you consider it. A weekday on the golf course is always better than one in the office. When you get to rub shoulders with the rest of the business owners in town and write it off as a business expense? Hell yah!

We didn't set any course records but had a fantastic time and met one of the local celebrities on the stream through the course. Neat little waterways all through this quaint town with interesting water foul. Four! Birdie!

Live Music!

This small city is generally swimming in events during the warm months when there are plenty of visitors. Given the last 2 years of cancelled gatherings, this town is rife with them and there is no shortage of selection. One of the best venues in town is https://revival.house whether it is a fancy dinner, private party, special event, wedding or concert. I have the pleasure of working with them as a marketing and technical consulting client. This is my perspective during a recent Pink Floyd cover band concert while acting as guest bartender. A great place to be inside at night.

It is also nice to be outside in the gardens with the green master Peter on the case. Brilliant green thumb by day and flamboyant dancer by night.

Jiu Jitsu

IMG_4367.JPG

A couple blocks closer to home, I have spent a few hours training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at https://stratfordbjj.com Certain classes have become extra rounds for our guy fighting as a headliner in an MMA fight about a week and a half out. This is my first 2-day trip in many years but discount domestic flights are enabling me to hop a plane to attend the fight in person. Should make for a fantastic short break and hopefully a big win. If you are so inclined, you can sign up for the PPV of an obscure western Canadian MMA production on the 25th of June here https://www.fite.tv/watch/absolute-mma-ignited/2pbgs/

Daddying

IMG_4408.jpg

It seems I have had a few rare daddying victories lately. One of them was gracefully exiting a business function in time to catch one of my little ones at a school concert. They worked so hard to put learn the songs and to play together that my presence really didn't seem to matter much. Still, I made it there to enjoy watching the fruits of the hard work and be supportive. You never know when your presence will be enough to make a moment better, or be the inspiration in a future challenge as an example of how to have someone's back. Hopefully just steps in the direction towards creating happy humans!

Gardening Season

IMG_4161.jpg

This is what the garden looked the last time I posted a Zekely. Winter had receded and left quite the challenge to tackle.

IMG_4365.jpg

Since then, I have managed to patch up the grass, repair and fortify the garden boxes, pull an ass-load of weeds and launch the Pickleman Family Garden series as part of the #gardenhive movement. I am hoping to leverage 5 years of lessons to produce a bumper crop of food for the family, and ingredients for my ultimate hot sauce and spicy relish.

IMG_4435.jpg

One of my challenges is sharing the yard and garden with Dig Dog but hopefully I can distract him with water and chasing toys.

IMG_4375.jpg

One thing I neglected to include in my most recent #gardenhive post was the @lynds Lupins update. I have a modest showing early this year but they are growing in 3 different places in the yard. They produce so many seeds that I can see how these may start spreading but that is alright with me as the early blooms are decorative and beneficial for the pollinators.

Thanks for checking in on my spring progress as we charge into summer!

What a great collection of activities, @zekepickleman! You have not only been keeping busy, but your activities are well-rounded with plenty of family time, keeping fit, gardening and having fun. It’s a great season, isn’t it?

Thats the name of the game is it not? I skipped a bunch of other stuff that included business, charity and other fun stuff because that would have made for way too long a post nobody could get through.

The next month is gonna be epic with some travel and vacation!
