Another physical NFT

avatar

If you play @risingstargame then you probably know that musicians can sell their music as NFTs within the game. They pay something up front, but can then set their own price. Generally you get an MP3 file, but some people have taken the next step of selling physical media that way. I previously bought an LP from @langvmusic that way. Recently I spotted another from @double-eagle and had to have it.

It arrived today after I tracked its progress from the US via the web. It is a 7" single this time that was securely packaged. I had to pay the postage costs, which were more than the cost of the record, but I like to treat myself. It came with some stickers too.

Single

You may notice the disk has a large hole. I think they are made like this to fit in a jukebox, so you need an adaptor for a regular record deck. It took me a while to realise that my Technics deck comes with one of those, so I could actually play it.

Deck

It sounds great with two very different songs. I am not sure if they are available to hear online. I did get MP3 files as well, but this disk joins my small vinyl collection. I have some from many years back as well as some purchases from recent years.

I know NFTs are all the rage at the moment, but there is something special about a physical object you can hold. I know there have been backlogs at record pressing plants as demand for vinyl is high, but I got this pretty quickly after I bought it.

If you want good music then support musicians.

I will slip in a plug for my own album that I released about a year ago. It is only available as a download, but you can set your own price or even have it for free. I can supply the templates for printing a label and CD insert if you want them.

Rock on!

Did you make sure you changed the speed of your turntable too? Usually you have to flip a switch between the different sizes or it spins too fast. That style of record is called a 45 over here. Have you got that package from me yet?

I did change the speed. I do have a few 45s still. My first record deck has belonged to my mum. It could play 78 and 16 rpm discs too. I've never seen a 16.

Oh, okay. My bad. That is great that you were able to play it.

I really like the point you made there because to enjoy sweet music means to appreciate them as well

Oh, I remember my old deck had a big hole adapter and I was thoroughly clueless as to what the hell it was for!

I had forgotten that we had one, but it came in useful at last.

I remember trying different things with it, I think it might have been before it was standard practice to just google everything. Had no clue ever

Woohooo!!! So glad the record arrived!
The first 7" single we did had a small hole, but I wanted to incorporate the sleeve art into the large hole (I think it worked out pretty well!).

Thanks again so much for the support and enjoy the record!

That hole did throw me for a moment as I was not expecting it. It's been a while since I bought a 7", although there was one as a bonus in a special edition I bought. I grew up playing some that had belonged to my mum, but I don't have those any more. Good luck with your music.

The merging of NFTs and physical objects is fascinating. Can't wait to see what the future holds.

Ha, cool. I like getting the vinyl out but Chloe keeps going for it as it spins so have to time my vinyl listening to when she's asleep in the bedroom!

Mine is well out of reach of the cat. I don't play it that often though. I have most of my music on the PC.

Wow. I thought the idea of vinyl records are outdated.

Lol. I listened to your rock songs and I think I like the Ikea and country songs. They make a lot of sense to me.

Vinyl is selling better than CDs in some places. It's had a big revival.

Happy to hear you enjoyed my music. I aim to entertain.

I do enjoy the sound of a vinyl record. We have a player and every once in a while we will dust off the player (and the albums) to listen to a few of our favorites. Your post reminds me that it's been far too long since I've done that. Which means its time to get dusting. ;-)

Some of my LPs go back to my childhood. Nice nostalgia listening to those.

It looks great, awesome project :) I haven't tried it yet, should I pay for minting NFTs there?

It's up to you. Talk to @risingstargame about it. Probably best to do that via the game Discord. Have to see what people are willing to pay

This is really cool and how much the world is changing, music for sale nft IN game? Maybe we're in the matrix already haha. I LOVE your 'wanna live in Ikea' @steevc made me smile so :) Despite all the bad in this new world at least there are so many good fun opportunities for all of us to share and make our arts and passions, eh?

Cheers. Years ago I could not imagine that people around the world would hear my music. We have so many exciting options now and Hive is part of it.
