ONECENT Daily Report - Fund Adjustment and a Rant - Day 14

avatar

Firstly, the numbers: our total STEEM value is currently about 1390 STEEM, including 230 STEEM within Steem Engine and a total of 15203 tokens in play. This gives ONECENT an ABV of about 9.14 cents.

Now, those of you who actually read these daily posts may be puzzled as to how those numbers have magically appeared! Well, slightly embarrassing, in that I underestimated the effect of the starting tokens given to the management account. Luckily I spotted this early and the solution is to let those tokens buy into the game at the current price. This was easily fixed by paying 200 MAPR tokens into the ONECENT game. Thus the game ABV is kept constant without having to burn all those tokens.

One aspect of Steem Engine that is puzzling and frustrating is trying to figure out precisely who owns what - including what I myself own! I mean, do you know the total value of all your token holdings at a glance? You may also have noticed that the numbers that appear, for example, on the ONECENT richlist are not what each person actually owns. If you place some tokens for sale, they are deducted from your total, even before selling them. The only way to know what you really own is to look at each token market page and scroll down to see if you have any open SELL orders. The alternative is to use some of the scripts now available to query the Steem Engine API. The only numbers that can be believed are staked tokens, as they cannot be put on sale without first unstaking them.

And another thing... why show prices in $ and then trade in STEEM? The red and green colours to indicate a falling or rising price are also based on the Dollar value, so that a token could actually be rising in STEEM terms - which is the trading currency - yet if STEEM itself is falling then the token's Dollar value is in red. I know, there's a new version in the works - rant over.

However, there is a serious point and it goes back to some of the early posts about averaging your ONECENT holdings and knowing precisely your target sale price. The DEX itself does not do that for you as yet, so you have to do it yourself with at least a spreadsheet.

To more cheery matters: a random upvote!

Although ONECENT is not in any way an upvote service, it struck me as a nice addition to the game to give some random upvotes. I shall give one 10% vote per day to a random account that appears on the first page of the transactions list on the Steem Engine Block Explorer.

That random player will also be added to our automatic-voter. The upvotes won't be so high as to make them significant compared to the ONECENT token price.

So, our second winner is... @quantumdeveloper!

Was hard going trying to find someone who posts! And nice to see Schrodinger's equation grace the pages of Steemit.

Congratulations!

I hope you find the game interesting. Please post any questions or, better still, if you write any articles on the ONECENT experience, feel free to post a link in a comment.

Till tomorrow!

Steem Engine is following the Steem MO.
You need to wield a multitude of tools in order to properly deal with it.
The missing features are obvious and easy to address.

Yes, I can see the scripts being built, whether within Discord or Github etc. I'm not the only one looking forward to a much richer and more feature-laden DEX so that those scripts are integrated into one environment.

I think that should improve with future updates. I believe the main focus was to roll it out, get a bearing on the interest and then if it’s successful make more important features available with future updates.

I find trying to understand steem engine very confusing on a lot of levels. I can never actually figure out the prices and the fact that you cant hide or remove tokens with a zero balance is very clunky and annoying. But oh well.

The weirdest thing is having all these $ prices and then click a token and it's back to STEEM. I will often remember the price I paid for something, but in STEEM, the trading currency. Anyway, a V2 coming soon.

BTW did you check which TOKENOMIX Round you won? So I can check transfers around that time. Thx

You're right! And as I suspected, both winners were not processed.
My apologies, will do it now.
@cmplxty should thank you too!

And another thing... why show prices in $ and then trade in STEEM?

You can check https://scot.today/ for some relief on that.

For me the most ridiculous thing on SE is to find out about your open orders. It's easy to put an order for some tokens and forget about it after some days if they are still unfilled. And if your buying price never comes to your ask price, your STEEMP will lie idle there for all the time as there is no way to find those STEEMP lying there lest you keep checking for open orders for all the hundreds of tokens out there!

My STEEMP funds get lost in this SE maze all the time. Is there an easy way out for it?

Ah yes, thanks, I remmeber seeing scot.today being built - looks finished now.

Pending orders not triggered do get cancelled after 30 days, so they don't sit there for ever. This also means I'm starting to see STEEMP appear, think I've sold some tokens, but no... it's just an old buy order expired!

Yeah, it's really difficult to track what sale orders got executed when we see STEEMP poring in our wallet balance.

Good to know there is a 30 day expiration time for pending orders.

Exactly, you then have to search through the SE block explorer - all takes time.
