3 weeks since your last Zekely and I am getting private messages from the masses to catch you up! I like to take a look back to reflect on memories & experiences to share with the Hive community for inspiring conversation and gigantic crypto rewards. I shall mine the images on my phone for nuggets with interesting stories, experiences or perspectives. Looks like a crazy 3 weeks dominated by booze, drugs and rock n roll!

Breakfast with the Mayor

For the first time in a couple years, I found myself at the Mayor's breakfast. Not much of the aforementioned debauchery going on here but still a neat event nonetheless. This event felt special because Covid has prevented a gathering like this the last couple of years and this is the last Mayor's breakfast for Dan who is most likely going on to provincial politics. All politicians are opportunists in my humble opinion and Dan is no different but I have really enjoyed watching him run this town the whole time I have been here. The last couple years, we exchanged emails regarding some of the charity initiatives we have spearheaded and Dan has always helped out with information and support.

Besides seeing his farewell address, which did seem to have a less softened up feel to it, it was great to be in a room of local leaders and mingle with each. Damn fine breakfast even if it was a bit too early in the morning.

High Society

It is this type of networking that lead me to the drugs. The Chamber of Commerce had its monthly Business After 5 gathering at a local dispensary https://spiritleaf.ca/locations/stratford/? that so happens to be a client of ours with @town-crier https://towncriermarketing.ca (Those backlinks from the blockchain are GOLD baby!)

Fantastic for the owners to have so many leaders in the building at once and kinda a coup as I wonder how many of these folks had never been in a cannabis dispensary. It was great seeing some of the older folks asking about CBD for inflammation and pain as @sequentialvibe and I chugged the THC drinks!

The next stop on the Chamber of Commerce party train was the Young Professionals gathering the next night at the local distillery https://www.junction56.ca/ Not clients yet but they deserve a link for being awesome.

This event was special as well because Covid threw the distillery for a loop that saw them diverting some production to making hand sanitizer and cancelling all in-person tasting events. I am enjoying a beverage with a little of their Rye Whiskey https://www.junction56.ca/canadian-whisky which is FINALLY ready! Damn tasty!

Beer & Guitars

Always one for a tasty segue, the booze carries us over to rock n roll. It has been a crazy few weeks for music as the band is back together preparing for our first performance in a couple years. This meant a trip to my guitar tech with a 6-pack of https://www.jobsitebrewing.ca/ craft beer. My guitar had spent a couple years gathering dust on the wall and deserved new strings and a set up. Good company in this room with the collection Mike has!

Despite all of the booze and drugs, I made it to the rehearsal studio with the guys in the big city. We are polishing up a short set of Huey Lewis & The News greatest hits this weekend. So awesome to be making music again.

Ladders

Besides all that swash buckling, I did manage to get a little work in and climbed my trusty ladder. Not enough for a patented Ladders post but eventually we will get there again.

Heel Hooks

I even managed to get a little martial arts training at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy https://stratfordbjj.com We had the privilege to attend a seminar held by Canadian jiu jitsu competitive fighter Kieran Kichuk
https://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/kieran-kichuk If you look at his stats, he finished almost all of his matches by submission and 33% of those are by Heel Hook. This is the crew who trained 2 hours of concepts, drills and techniques directly related to leg attacks designed to twist your bones out of your knee. Fun!

Covid Update

On what will probably be the most shocking of Covid updates, I have finally caught the plague! As far as we can tell, 2 weeks after the provincial government suddenly lifted mask mandates and effectively lowered everyone's guard, one of our kids brought it home from school. A couple negative tests lead us to believe it might have been a simple cold until my better half developed symptoms and tested positive. She spent the night before snoring into my face so you know where I most likely contracted it. Triple vaxed here so the symptoms have been relatively mild so far. Hoping to stack a few negative tests together so I can play the show with the band this weekend!
