I did a blood test last friday. I receive a call monday afternoon from the nurse of my family doctor telling me about my results. My red blood cells (hemoglobin) count was abnormally low. The weird part is the fact that people in this situation typically feel more tired than usual, have bleed in their urine or feces but that was not my case at all. It came as a huge shock to me as I consider myself very healthy, exercise so much and eat healthy. When I realised that I had to go to the ER on that very day I started panicking. When I saw the words on the paper " consider blood transfusion" the tears could not longer be kept in. I had not seen any of this coming.

Luckily I met the kindest most wonderful staff. The nurses, the doctor, the patients (I was put with the elderly) made my heart full and my night so much better. The doctor came to the possible conclusion that I have anemia and they gave me some iron through IV for 2 hours. I'm going to have to see another specialist (hematologist) because while it's an evidence that I have significant iron deficiency, it's still a mistery why my heboglobin levels dropped so significantly. Apparently the intense exercising is not the cause.

What a night it was! Thankful to be back home.

That drop though...
