"take the money and run"

(Edited)

I just read @arcange's post regarding Hive Statistics...
What shocked me the most is the abrupt loss of "Daily Active Users" we are experiencing these days:

In addition to the obvious Bear Market, I don't see any other plausible reason that justifies that we have lost half of the active users in just 1 month... Something will have to do with the activity in Splinterlands I suppose, that perhaps it is not going through its best moment but this I don't know for sure since I'm not a player of it.
I don't quite understand how we are so sensitive to what the market does, being the current moment one of the best opportunities to build and accumulate in HIVE...
Don't get me wrong, it's clear that making money when the price is high is fine, but then there are always people who regret not having worked or invested more when the price was low.
We are plagued by people who do not think long-term but only under the premise of "take the money and run", unfortunately.

It makes me angry to see this situation, however, we can do nothing but continue to accumulate and "survive" the current moment.

As my grandfather used to say, "everything ends even the bad"...

It is quite alarming at the dropped rate of activities on Hive I can see with less posts and even my curation at the percentages which I distribute votes, I see I have more percentages left than usual.
Like you said, some fail to have long term view of things, on the other hand though I see my stake growing quite well.

For me, I feel happy when Hive price comes down. It is indeed a great investment opportunity and a great incentive to work more on site.

One would hazard a guess it's something to do with Splinterlands as you say, it might not look so alarming if zoomed in on just the year!

For sure the situation it’s much better than 1 year ago but, in any case, it’s alarming

Yes, your grandfather told you truth. I regret the people who lose hope quickly and do not complete to the end. Whatever currency is strong, it's unstable.

What we can learn from time and seasons is that no condition is permanent.. the bear season and the bull season will always come and go. What it's important is how we work with each season to help us grow financially.

Yeah, I'm guilty of not being as active of late. Still try to vote and still play splinterlands. Need to get back on it - thanks for the nudge!

Its Splinterlands and the new reward system that is killing some of the bots.

Good to hear it then, so, does it means 200k active users were bots? 😶

Well not sure was it exactly that number, but yea ... somewhere between 150k to 200k ... and there are more left :)

it takes a few bear-bull cycles to learn the right mindset. I mean this stuff ain't taught in school

Splinterlands is the main reason as you highlighted. As it became less lucrative for players and mostly for bots 🤖 to milk the game.

Deja vu happening all over again. At the time the rebound comes many will be regretting why they left

This is the bearish market that is eating out the cluster of active users

I would have thought that the concept of hive power and the powerdown schedule would mitigate such short-term reactions to price somewhat....

It's too bad to see people drop off of Hive. It's gotten busier for me but I still take some time to be active each day. It's way better to build during the bear market than to try to compete in the bull market.
