Hive Power Up Day: August 2022. Six years of fun

Is it August already? This year is racing by and it will be @hivefest before we know it. I powered down a bit last month to pay for my trip to Amsterdam. I know some people go on about 'diamond hands', but money is meant to be used and I see that trip as good value. I dipped back under 80k HP then, but I am back over that milestone again now.

I did a couple of small power ups today using funds I earned passively from Hive dapps. I still keep a stake in various things to keep income coming in. Whilst I was away last week with little access to the internet I rented out Splinterlands cards with @splinterrents and increased the votes I give via Hive.vote so that I would still be earning.

Even though this does not make a huge difference to my account it gets me another badge from @hivebuzz.

I hope to reach 100k HP next year, but it is hard to know what could happen by then. Today the $HIVE price rocketed up on strong trading from Korea. I have no idea what drives that, but I would hope that this will get the attention of a few more people who may check out what Hive offers. I do not intend to do big power downs, but I will take profit now and then when I can justify it. It would just have been nice to have been able to do it for Hivefest today to reduce the amount I took out. Such is life.

I am hoping that $HIVE will at least stabilise higher than the recent price after this pump. That can be a real incentive for smaller accounts to keep posting. Many people are relying on Hive to pay their bills. The long-term investors may not like to see all those funds flowing out, but Hive should be changing lives, and not just for those with money to invest. Many of those will already be secure and may just want another Lambo/Tesla/Harley. If you only make a few dollars each month from your job then Hive can make a big difference. It should be open to all, except for those who try to abuse it of course.

I hope to meet more of you at Hivefest. It ought to be affordable for many within Europe, but I appreciate cost and travel restrictions may make it impractical for some. The talks should get streamed and those of us there will be posting to give our impressions.

Tomorrow marks a big day as I will have been on this blockchain for six years. I have made a lot of friends on Hive over that time and met a lot of them at the big and small meetups. I encourage everyone to get to some event and organise one if there is nothing nearby. Getting a few Hivers together in a bar can be productive and fun.
