The News

Storm Eunice is blowing across the UK today. So far we have part of a fence down and a hawthorn tree fell into the road. All the ivy on it made it catch the wind. Otherwise we are okay, but one of the chickens died.

Tree

Meanwhile on Hive, @splinterlands have hooked up with a rapper who has millions of followers elsewhere to produce a special card. It is not cheap, but there will not be too many of them. I would hope that some of his fans will check out Hive. If even 1% join up it will make a difference. I am not aware that he has a Hive account himself.

Friday Followings

The Doghouse

I will just list some activities I have encountered this week that could be bad for your Hive experience:

  • Spamming links into Discord channels, regardless of relevance.
  • Leaving vacuous comments. Telling me running is good for my health on my running posts does not add anything. I know that already.
  • Complaining of lack of rewards when they are not posting.
  • Abusing tags. Even if a tag can give you extra rewards you should check it is relevant to you and/or your posts.
  • Calling members of the community communists/fascists/bullies after getting a few downvotes. This will not endear you. Sometimes you are the one who needs to change. There are certain standard people are expected to follow and good luck making much elsewhere.

The End

The $HIVE price is still holding over a dollar, but I am not worrying about it too much. I will keep on powering up anyway as we are just starting to get somewhere. Our votes can do so much good and supporting smaller accounts encourages them to stick around. It should not just be about personal gain, but we all win in the long term if Hive grows. Do what you can to help that happen.

Hive five!

Sorry to hear about the chicken. Winds kicked up in California the other day and did some havoc also. Thanks for posting the reminders and some good post for the week. One thing I came across was some spammers in my comments and its a good reminder to be very careful about where these links take you. Thanks again.

I could have mentioned the phishing too, but then that was very deliberate. It's a shame some people got caught out, but such offers really are too good to be true.

The comments have been kind of horrible lately. I have noticed quite a few that I can't even make sense of and when I can they are just junk. I am guessing some of it has to do with translation software not quite getting it right, but then again, who knows.

I get that some people struggle with English, but sometimes they just have nothing to say and say it anyway :)

Calling members of the community communists/fascists/bullies after getting a few downvotes.

I believe this is not right and also not a good example to be happening in the blockchain, if any questions need to be ask it should be done politely

Oh My.. Your chicken died? That's terrible. We are having a bad line of storms move through here today and lost power and trees down. The clean up from that kind of stuff is never fun. You better watch your ankles while running too! My buddy twisted his on a small branch that he didn't see.. but I think you'll have no problem noticing large trees with lots of ivy attached, if they are in your running path. So sorry to hear about the chicken.

And thank you for the shout out!!! 😁

I can't blame the storm for the chicken. They can just drop dead sometimes. I will be careful when running. There have been a few trees down around here and parkrun may not happen if it's bad.

Okay. Gotcha. Yeah chickens don't live forever. I thought maybe it had something to do with the storm. Do you raise chickens for the eggs? My wife wants me to build a chicken coop so we can raise a few, but I am not for it. They tend to stink and tear the ground up. Not to mention the snakes and rodents will make themselves at home there too. haha. I like the idea but not sure about the work involved. We are better off buying them from the guy down the street. Let him do all the hard work! hahaha.

I've not found the chickens too much work. They don't smell too bad, but they dig a fair bit in their run and we have had rats. Not many snakes around here. It's probably an expensive way to get eggs, especially as ours have not laid many lately. They are pets really.

Cool, I hope to have a few posts for this weekend with the jams, and next weekend with the open mics, have been struggling lately to actually do anything at all so nothing to post about. In regards to comments, getting any comment is still sometimes better than nothing, they needon't be up voted if not relevant, I for one do try my best anyway to engage. Keep on rockin!

Getting comments means having followers, so you need to keep engaging to build on that.

As for posting, I've found having a range of topics means I always have something to write about. You can write about TV shows, books, anything really. I think I may have mentioned not using up all your material too quickly. Maybe find some posting challenges you could participate in.

Try to make it fun, as I always say.

You seem to have got the wrath of Eunice, whereas us up North have barely felt it. There's another one behind Eunice, Franklin I think next.., joy!

Looked like we'll get more here on Sunday, but it may not be quite as bad. I could do without any more damage. At least the house seems okay. We've had ridge tiles blow off before.

Por supuesto, la meta es hacer crecer HIVE BLOG. Yo hago mi parte difundiendo a través de mi cuenta de twitter, y publicando en las cuentas de otros twitteros. La publicidad nunca está de más. Lamento lo del pollo.

Ah Steve, I'm sorry about your chicken. What happened to her? Mine were all hiding in their coop today. They were really bothered by the winds.

I have one living in a cage in my conservatory at the moment because the others had bullied her so much that she had stopped eating. This is the third time I've had to bring that one indoors to get some time away and have a good feed. I think she must feel a bit like being back in the 'caged bird farm' again but I didn't want to put her back out in the run today because the wind was so awful. Next doors fences are down but mine seems to have survived. Will inspect the shed tomorrow. I hope the roof is still on it.

She was looking a bit down the other day and I had to lift her into the coop when the others went in. Just seemed to go downhill fast.

I've not seen much other damage around here yet apart from some stuff on Facebook. I hope we've had the worst of it.

I'm sorry to hear about the chicken. Poor thing. We had a lot of fences down in my neighbourhood, as well as a lot of damaged roof tops.

I think everyone will have their stories of this set of storms. It's not often the British weather is so dramatic.

It was a bit frisky here in Farnborough and some trees came down. One of which blocked the main road into the town. My parents have had no power since Friday and may not get it back until Monday night. Sorry to hear about your chicken. I kept our cat in just in case as I was worried about her getting trapped somewhere.

Sorry to her about the chicken dying. These storms have been crazy. Up north whole sections of forests have been destroyed.

Interesting to see if anyone joins hive from this rapper?

We were just in Portsmouth and it was wild down there. When you see the waves breaking over the prom it makes it clear how bad it is. I'm hoping it's the last wave of storm tomorrow for a while.

Yep it's been a bit hectic since Arwen in November. So much destruction up and down the country.
Anyone who denies climate change needs to see a shrink imo.

Portsmouth is a nice place for a visit. I've got some friends down there. 👍

Be safe man. Sucks about the tree and sorry about your chicken, I know how much you care for them!

We need a better hashtag system. I agree though, hashtag spam sucks.

Chickens can drop dead at any time. We've done well to go so long without losing one. The tree is no great loss either as we have plenty more. Other places has the storm much worse. I think we are due more windy weather tomorrow, but I'll be staying home.

I was just saying to someone the other day, I literally hibernated this winter. Only left the comfort of the house for food and necessities. 🤣 Can't wait for spring to arrive. Weather has been strange everywhere. We had a pretty rough winter here, first one in awhile.
