Market farm style.
Some photos of our recent trip over the mountain.
Another use for shipping containers, simply turn them into shops at a market place.
The steel containers are ideal as one can lock up the goods at night by closing the steel awning and locking the container doors at the left hand side. No need to pack up everything and to transport them home every night. An ideal solution.
I thought that this post would also be suitable for the #marketfriday community, hosted by the lovely lady @dswigle.
A solid tempered glass front was added to this container.
A lovely conversion of a steel container here.
There was also a homemade nursery cabin and a growth tunnel at this flower nursery.
And here was the rest of the nursery. For some of us, that bus is a great memory as we actually traveled on them as passengers many years ago.
I normally went to school every day on my bicycle, but on rainy days I had to take that pesky slow bus that stopped anywhere and everywhere on the trip to school and back.
So I could get up to all sorts of tricks on the bus to pass the time and the driver didn't hesitate to stop the bus to come and sort me out hahaga.
An old Bedford fire truck was converted into a mobile library.
Did I tell you that this nursery is in a farming area.
So amazing to see the magical transformation abilities of people. I bet that the original designers of the steel shipping containers never thought that one day their containers will serve as shops. Best of all is that one container can even be converted into a coldroom to store fragile goods.
Other instances of container conversions include stores, offices and even air conditioned homes.
Should you ever hit the road in the Western Cape Province, don't forget to visit the Peregrine roadside restaurant.

When I see a shipping container I think of how I could turn it into a tiny cozy home. I just love this kind of thing.
This was an ideal market Friday post!
Thank you milady and yes, new inventions for shipping countainers appear here regularly.
Monile class rooms, health clincs in the rural areas, nuilding site offices and many others.

Immediately recognized Peregrine....although a lot has changed since I was last there! That bus is fabulous. I remember helping a family (when I lived overseas) to convert old airport and double decker busses to guesthouses. Interesting and challenging exercise
Oh yes, Peregrine is a great landmark and meeting place.
You seem to have gotten yourself involved in many interesting things. Ample mental stock to use as posting material methinks.

.Yes those shipping containers come in handy dont they.
And all I can now hear my mind singing the old Cliff Richards song..."we're all going on a summer holiday and if you don't know it....
There's something about double decker red buses isn't there...
Great shot of the old Bedford. I'll have to show my old dad that when I next see him. (He's just turned 86 so loves the old trucks...)
They certainly do and they are used for many other inventions here.
Ah yes, I know every word of that song from old Cliffy boy.
So many of us have memories of those buses and this one was converted into a leather goods sales shop. I didn't go into the bus, as the old seats were removed for shopping space and I want to keep my memories intact.
Yes, I think that your dad will like the old Bedford.

Yes, I can't wait to show dad the old Bedford, I think her had one back in the 50/60's...
Thanks for the Vegan Pizza! 😋
My pleasure 👉👍👈
This is such a perfect #MarketFriday post! Those shipping containers have a tried and true quality. I have a relative that lives out in the desert of California, and she bought one years ago for a shed on her property. It was perfect! She hired someone to convert it and add windows and a door and presto! It became a shed. She has since gotten another one and loves them!
I cannot think of a better life for them. Rather than scrapping them, giving them proper use and allowing people to find a more economical way to build. It checks so many of the boxes! I love, love, love that double-decker bus and somehow, I cannot see the innocence of a young you needing to be sorted. :) To this day, I will board a double-decker and try to sit up top, so I can see as far as I can see. You certainly had pretty cool-looking firetrucks. They look more like armored vehicles that collect money from banks and such. Peregrine looks like a fun place to stop for a visit and for a bite to eat. You bring us to the funnest places! I love the concept of #MarketFriday and how our cultures differ and then again, how much they are alike. Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages. Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? these are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I had hoped that posting here will familiarize you with the world around you just a little bit more. Viewing it from a more personal level as opposed to the newsworthy level gives me a better understanding of the people and a view that is often not seen on National television.
I appreciate all the support that you give to #MarketFriday! Thank you! Whether you are putting a post in or simply making a comment, your participation adds a piece of your world, and I have to say, people are interested in seeing it. This entire challenge has opened up the world to me and so many others. It is always enjoyable to have you here, you always give such a unique perspective on things. I hope you have a most wonderful day! Keep on Hiving!!!

Wow, you wrote a book here my dear friend.
Thank you and I appreciate your care and your friendship. As you know we work with many cultures here at Papillon and yes, it is always interesting to hear the different stories.
That bus has a great history in my mind as we though at the time of their release here that it was a huge improvement on the old electrical trams that we used.
All of that is gone now like it never existed and it is all closed chapters in my mental book of life.
Life carries all of us along on its streams and we collect many memories along the way, also lessons and some of us even learn the worth of kindness on our journeys.
So just you continue to shine your light and if it can help even one person then you have been successful. I am sure that you have helped many and you stay radiant.
That's what we love about you.
