Costa Maya and Market Friday
very precise manner. To me, almost like a religious ceremony like Baptism or any other sacrament. It definitely feels in that realm, with the four dancers climbing the pole to the ropes and the one man climbing the pole and sitting on top, playing the same tune as the dancers spin.
And just like that, this post is done. I hope you had a good time and learned a little something new. As always, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit, and just remember, #MarketFriday loves you! Thank you for supporting the challenge! Have a most fabulous day! Cheers!!

I hope you have a great day.

@dswigle you got my attention with this beautiful Pictures, the cost looks so beautiful and sure alot of fishing activities will be carried out there the sun flower looks like one in my gallery i also like the cultural customs on the man, the attire looks so different and cultural with feathers all over him, welldone friend, expecting more do have a beautiful market Friday, can i have your discord handle?
Oh, yes. The Yucatan is a beautiful place with many water activities and beach weather all year. The Mayans has an interesting culture and their ruins are amazing with all the futuristic technology they used. They were way ahead of their time.
#MarketFriday loves you!
@dswigle 3637 You can drop me a dm there. I thought you already had it, I didn't realize you were asking for it! :)
Thanks @dswigle
My pleasure.
Down South exceptionally vibrant, warm in every which way possible, strapping some feather on and flying around maypole looks a fun way to cool down too.
Lovely place to visit, tiles collected from different regions, one could start little corners in a home as reminders of fun times had.
@tipu curate
Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 70/90) Liquid rewards.
Thank you so much, Joan! @joanstewart
The colors are so very vibrant. The culture is bold and beautiful. I saw a video from GoPro where one of them had it strapped to them- WHAT A VIEW! I wish I had been able to use it, but, I was not able to. I have to say, it was a hair-raising experience. LOL
I did use the tiles I got from the Netherlands and in one of my houses, (sold now, but, oh! the memories) I used them around the fireplace and it was so very beautiful. I have a few more and the Mexican tile, I have and am waiting to be inspired to do something with it. I believe I am overthinking it. I will start giving that a little more thought. Thank you, always.
Much appreciation for the big gift! Much appreciated.
#MarketFriday loves you!
Always loved the Delft Blue in tiles and accessories, some bought, some gifts some inherited so I can imagine how you enjoyed using tiles of your own choosing.
Enjoy the tiles once they get up that you have more recently acquired, chill and visualize what you want over a glass of wine.
Have a wonderful day!
That is such wonderful advice! Thank you. Always. ❤️
With gorgeous tiles like this it would make a wonderful set of outdoor furniture using the tiles on top of scatter tables for a patio. 😘
or
Built in patio braai area using tiles up sides of outdoor fireplace, tiles are versatile, able to take weather conditions in good stride normally as well.
How vibrant! Your post is !ALIVE with energy and colour. Looks like a great place to experience a deep dive into another culture. Where did you use the tiles in the end? 😊
@dswigle! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @samsmith1971. (5/10)
The tip has been paid for by the We Are Alive Tribe through the earnings on @alive.chat, feel free to swing by our daily chat any time you want.
Thank you for the Alive!
The first time I got tiles. I bought them for my brother. :) I was living in New Mexico and just a quick over-the-border purchase. I bought some different ones in the Netherlands for around a fireplace in a house I owned and then moved, so I need to do something else here.
The Mexican tiles I still have. Some were used on an outdoor table for my mom and dad, but, I want to do something cool with them, so nothing yet. I am so unartistic. LOL It is a great place for a dive...literally both ways.
I lived in Texas and everything was tile/style so when I came back East, I have lived without it. I will find a place, eventually. I have a bar and wine room and might do something with it there. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words!
Thanks for the Alive tokens! Mwah!
#MarketFriday loves you!
haha! Don't believe it for one minute !LOLZ
You clearly have vision as you have found some interesting uses so far. What about using some of them in a mozaic?
lolztoken.com
You are out of jokes for the day!
@samsmith1971 you can call @lolzbot a maximum of 4 times per day.
Level up by buying more $LOLZ so you can share more jokes per day!
That is exactly how I did my mother's patio table. We took the broken pieces and made a mosaic out of them. That was not artistic. That was a mosaic. LOL
You are right, I could do another one of those, It came out pretty cool. Thank you for the idea!
I love the vibrant colors there, must be such an experience to visit there and see the cultural events the costumes and such, and at this time of year how can I not also say the warmer weather :)
here is my post for this week
https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@tattoodjay/market-friday-the-seastreak-ferry
Haha! Yeah, Of course, I should have added, this was not today, it was right at COVID. I haven't traveled since. I need to look back and see what I wrote.
Anyway, I love the interesting culture of the Mayans, so ahead of their time architecturally, scientifically, and in other ways. I am amazed every time I go to one of their sites. I look at the rock and how heavy and have to wonder how they built with them... the least of their wonders.
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words, and dropping your link! I hope you have a great day!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Well unless you have a teleport machine I think it’s clear it’s not today lol
I would love one day to visit there I have read so much about the Mayans
You would absolutely love it! Like Vietnam and Southeast Asia, the past is present for them. Many things are still in use, unlike the US. It is a shame, I think. I think of the Native Americans and all that was destroyed of their history... the same as we are doing right now, all over the world. Progress, my you-know-what!
You would love the Mayan sites. They make me ponder how did they ever do that? Many times over.
Hello Denise how have you been? This place is gorgeous and I have never heard of this beautiful place. When was this tour? By the way can I send you a DM? I'm helping a friend.
Of course, you can! :)) You don't have to ask that. @dswigle 3637
It is in the Yucatan, in Mexico. Very beautiful! Take a look! I hope all is well with you and life in general.

Love Mexico I was in Cuba and Mexico city about six years ago loved everything about Mexico so colorful and great people your lucky your so close to Mexico.
Just dropping my link here, have a great weekend @dswigle ☺️

Mexico City is HUGE! Talk about an interesting place to visit. It is so cool as it was built on the ruins of the Aztec city, Tenochtitlan. Can you imagine excavating there?
Definitely one of the oldest cities (and largest) in all of the Americas. So very wow. Right? I want to go back to Cuba! Unfortunately, being American, that is a cuss word over there.
Le sigh.
Hey, thanks for stopping by with your words, dropping your link! I just got a peek at all those fabulous pictures! Wow~!! Thanks!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Lol, you definitely know your history better then me 🤣 I just enjoyed very much I loved the old school stuff over there. Yeah I know what you mean American really let them down in many ways I suppose.
I’ve seen people post market Friday stuff but never fully knew what it was about. I do now, thanks! I’ve got some photos in there somewhere I can use lol I’ll see if I can formulate a post!
Mexico is beautiful for sure, though I’ve only seen pictures so far. Haven’t gotten the pleasure of going there myself yet but hopefully in the future! I do love the tile that they create there, it’s unique!
That would be wonderful! I always try to post what it is about in each of my comments on the post so that people will know... I mean, I get it. What is #MarketFriday?
Anywhere you go in Mexico, it is unique, the tile is. It is not as nice a quality as the Italian or the Dutch delft tile, but, it is unique in its own way and I agree, it is pretty nice.
I look forward to it, if you don't get a chance this week, we are always here next week, and then next week and so on. :) Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words! It's always a pleasure!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
Take pictures! Be creative!
5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
That is really cool. I have never been to Mexico before, but I think that we might be heading to Cabo next Year. Who knows if that will happen with Covid and all of that. I am actually excited about going but also terrified because I know I am going to do something stupid like accidentally drink the water and then my whole trip will be ruined!
In the Baja? Oh, that is so nice down that way. I hope you do get to go. I haven't been that way in probably ten years or so. I know that the borders keep opening and closing so I plan nothing anymore, it is too much trouble to try to cancel. It is what it is, I may talk big right now, and so I am laughing at myself. I will roll with it, just like we all are.
Don't stress. Drink bottled water a month before you go, so you'll be in the habit. :) PS... I have drunk water all over the world and I haven't died yet. Now, I don't even BRUSH my teeth with water in Mexico. I kid you not. It can ruin your day.
Everyone is worried about that the first time they leave here. They offer bottled water everywhere, every street, busses, everywhere. Even they know the water is a sensitive thing for most people.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words.
#MarketFriday loves you!
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely keep that in mind!
I hope you get to go, and that you are flying in. Driving is another adventure that I will save the story for another time. :)
Oh yes, we will be flying. I don't really enjoy that as much as I used to, it just feels like we are being cattle herded anymore. I don't think I have enough days off to drive it though!
You don't want to drive it. Some day I will tell you the stories of driving down there through Mexico. There is a bunch of nothing between the border and all the way down to Baja.
Wait. I don't want to turn your hair grey.
Too late! That's why I shave it off!
Haha!🤣
This is a dangerous game. But they have a lot of experience dancing without any fear https://peakd.com/hive-196308/@amirhayat42/eng-or-urdu-shopping-in-the-market-and-with-beautiful-photography
It is in their culture, and if you look at their faces, there is no fear. I would be screaming like a little girl - all the way down! :)

oh oh i got dizzy when i watched the video. this man in a feather suit is cool. very interesting place! the sea is beautiful! did you forget the jewelry???? it would be very interesting to see!
https://ecency.com/hive-196308/@tali72/pandemic-dictates-online-shopping
I watched a video that was taken from Go-Pro. You should see this one:
It is death-defying to me! :)
It is an interesting culture and so very colorful! I didn't get jewelry this time as there are many places that are not always so honest, so I would rather not hope for the best. I have bought some jewelry before, nothing expensive and it is hit or miss on the quality.
But, it is always pretty to look at! I can live with that. I like window shopping!
Thank you so much for reading the post and leaving your words, dropping the link behind!

Oh what a horror!!!! 😮 I would never go up there! Especially not hung on those ropes. They probably like it. There are people who love heights and adrenaline. Definitely not me!!!!!
I wouldn't either! Who knows how well those things are tied> they don't even use helmets? I will jump from a plane, but, I wouldn't do that!
I don't mind heights, and adrenaline is only cool when it is happening, but, I have to say, I must be getting old. If I don't get a rush like that anytime soon, I am good with that! :)
I think we are not so much getting older as we are getting wiser 😁 Adrenaline is only good for what it was created for by the Creator😀 take care my dear!!!!
Beautiful images you have
like the colors of obyects and traditiconal dresser of mexico city
greetings
Thank you! I love how colorful the entire culture is, always such a happy place to be. Thanks so much for stopping by and reading, leaving your words behind.

That dance is mesmerizing. find the relationship between dances, rituals and mythology fascinating. How interesting to understand that pre-scientific thinking! Even today we have our personal rituals to invoke the powers of nature. Enjoy Mexico ( no need to tell😂) Mexico lindo y querido...
La cultura española es siempre rica y colorida. Las personas más felices del mundo, en mi opinión.
I do find the rituals and the mythology interesting and the Mayans so ahead of their time. Just how did they build the way they did. I am always in awe when I visit one of their ruins.
@MarketFriday loves you!
Gosh I can feel the warmth and heat and smell lovely scents from this post particularly as it is grey and spitting down rain out front, even white caps and fog, what a contrast. This looks a magical place @dswigle
You know what? It really is @donnadavisart! It surprises me that each time I visit some part of Mexico, I learn so much more about their culture. My sister-in-law is from Guadalajara, and I love going when she is with me. The local tour is so much better.
I will bet that the pictures from your day are quite amazing. I love to photograph stormy scenes.
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading the post, leaving your words behind.

I hope you buy lots of souvenirs to decorate a spot in your place with Mexican craft. That would be very colorful and lively.
That beach is beautiful ,but too windy to my liking. Hope you have better weather for the next days . The Mexican Caribbean is amazingly beautiful ; however, i cant help asking which place do you think is more magical Tulum or La Costa Maya?
here's my entry for this week's #marketfriday
https://peakd.com/wednesdaywalk/@francisaponte25/the-season-of-love-markefriday
My sister-in-law is Mexican, so I have always decorated space for her. :) It is very colorful and lively, just like her. The beach is beautiful to look at, but, of course, too windy to enjoy for me.
More magical... In which way? Costa Maya is a small fishing town, with very little in it, except for what is built up for tourists. While there is nothing wrong with that, I do like places where I have to do nothing and just be... Tulum is in such a perfect spot, right on the Yucatán Peninsula's Riviera Maya strip of Caribbean shoreline. It is beautiful, their markets always have fresh produce in them and the ruins are there. It has a charm about it that has nothing to do with what it has/or doesn't have.
Unfortunately, the tourist trade is ruining Tulum with higher than ever crime rates. Sad, isn't it? It should be building up the economy, not creating crime. I went to Chichen Itza from there and we went swimming in a Cenote. It is pretty magical when you sit and think about it. Most places have that special something in them.
I found that in Columbia, Uruguay and Chili. Our world is so wonderful and the cultures are always interesting.
Wait! I forgot what I was supposed to be answering. Off on my own tangent! Sorry!
Thanks so much for reading the post and leaving your words, dropping your link behind! Have a wonderful rest of your day!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Perfect reply! Exactly what I was expecting! Love when people go off the tangent in some situations ( we say that in Spanish too. " se fue por la tangente") Yes, Tulum is more "touristic", so I guess it is also more expensive and attractive to Narcos and delinquents. However, the beaches look prettier in Tulum. I'd love to see those pictures of the Cenotes ! My god !
Some situations Yes! Not always or I would get nothing done. Tulum is also getting more violent crime, something that is not their normal. Exactly that! Narcos but, they are in their own little gang wars, which scares most people. Rightly so.
The beaches are prettier in Tulum, especially overlooking the ruins down to the beach. That tree that almost touches the water?
I didn't take any pictures at the beach as I was swimming. I don't take my camera unless I am going for pictures. I have some from another trip, I will take a look and see if they are easy to find. I am terrible at organizing my pictures. Too many at one time and then I get in a rush. I know they are here. :)
Have you ever been?
Mexico? No! Only Colombia , Trinidad and Tobago and the USA
That is more than most people!
Really? 😅😂
Yes! I am serious. I even know of people that have never been on a plane. Travel is not in everyone's plan. Some are just happy in their own world, although the internet and cable have really opened up the world. How can you not be interested!?
But, I don't judge. The main ingredient is if you are happy. If you are happy, it matters not.
Yes, I know! And here in the US, it is very common . There is a spot I love here in Lake Eire. I've been there EIGHT times in a two and a half years. There are people from Ohio who do not even know that spot exits . That's crazy !

Thank you! I love when you jump in #MarketFriday! Woo-hoo! I hardly ever buy anything, but, it is nice to break out once in a while.
I don't like to fill up my house, just because I have room. :) Thanks so much for (so much) today! Reading my post, leaving your words, dropping your link behind.

When I see something worthy of being photographed I go for it, have not visited nrusery in awhile, never photograph normal shops or food that I eat.
Eye-candy items when out end in spur of moment purchase, will eventually find a spot in the home.
Next to do on my list is going through cupboards with forty years of collecting, now to be sorted and distributed 🙃
Wonderful weekend wishes from across the pond....
Those dressing must take a lot to upkeep.
The tiles really have nice design.
Anyway, we were mostly no market with many business closes for Chinese New Year but each year more open even on first day of the Chinese New Year.
https://hive.blog/hive-105017/@ace108/marketfriday-new-prosperous-dinner-on-chinese-new-year-day-1-or-by-ace108
I know, right, Ace? @ace108 It used to be a sacred day where nobody would dare work. Now, nothing is sacred anymore. I drew the line when some places were opening up on Christmas night for the sales to start early. Funny enough, COVID changed all of that. Now we are back to more family time and they don't have the stores open on the holidays (around here) this year.
Thanks for stopping by and reading the post, leaving your words behind, and dropping the link.
Have a great day!
#MarketFriday loves you!
you're welcome. It is still nice to be able to get to things on a holiday.
What?? You are in Mexico?? Awww :) We actually haven´t been this much south on Yucatan but it all looks just so familiar and nice! We watched the Dance of the Flyers in Playa del Carmen many times, what a special experience :) Aww, please say hola to Yucatan for us and enjoy!!!
Not anymore! :) Really? You were in Playa del Carmen, right? I didn't realize it was so far, but, honestly, I am glad you don't live there anymore. Quintana Roo has had more and more crime, it used to be a petty crime and it was annoying, but, even Tulum is experiencing violent crime. All of these once sleepy fishing villages have turned and with it, the violence.
I won't go back for a bit, being American has its downside, although many who have been targeted were not American. There is so much beauty in the world, I see no reason to force myself into a situation.
I automatically said hello to you, it was the two of you I was thinking of. :) It truly was a special experience watching them. I saw them in Tulum and in Mexico City also. That is a death-defying act. :)
Thanks for stopping by and reading my post!
#MarketFriday loves you!
Oh yeah, we know about the spike of violent crimes in Mexico and the Mayan Riviera in particular. We still follow many local media, expat groups etc. so we are updated on everything over there. It was your photos what brought the memories back, sweet memories actually as during those 2 years that we spent there, we felt safe and comfortable most of the time. Back then we were there, the crime was almost exclusively cartels related. Common locals and visitors were safe. Obviously and unfortunately, this has changed lately :( So you are not in Mexico right now?
Wow this are such a beautiful sight to behold,Costa Maya is a place to be, those men custume and makeup reminds me of Halloween and football fans diff outfit.
Here is my entry for today's market Friday experience.

They really are quite death-defying, aren't they? I am pretty sure I won't be going up there anytime soon! I think of it as more of a cultural experience, much like your festivals where they dress as the ancestors did.

Lovely!
Me.... I am stuck in California! I haven't been to ANY place, and it's been a year and a half!
https://hive.blog/hive-196308/@silversaver888/bourbon-barrel-cake#comments
Well, I do like my vacations! When everything gets back to normal, I will not work one more day and will live only for vacations. Hehe... I love traveling, just give me tickets and I am gone!
California has changed so much since I lived there. I love the weather and the people, but, the politics are getting out of hand. Why can't we leave well enough alone? Life was so sweet. We can get that all back again, right?

I know! That is sooo brave! I couldn't do that, and I don't know many people that could. I have to say that it is part of their culture and perhaps something that they expect to do, carry on the traditions?
Not sure, but, no thank you! :)

You went for the nachos!
That's a helluva market. I can't even imagine any of the riverfront markets here looking like that. Nice!
I did. Until the next meal. Then I got something I couldn't even pronounce. :) I feel kind of bad as the market was super cool and I was so tired, It was 5 am and I was already overtired and trying to push it together. I promise next week will be better!

You are welcome.
Ah yes this might just keep me warm a couple more winter months.
Here is the one I have from my #marketfriday post up north of there when I visited in October. A little rum brings back the warmth of those memories!
Thanks for sharing another awesome exotic market Friday post!
You know that should do the trick, right? All I have to do is scroll through the pictures and remember how toasty warm I was down there. And if it wasn't, there was always rum. Have you ever noticed that everyone serves drinks morning, noon, and night? I had to sip my coffee before drinking, you know, just in case!
What can I say? When in Mexico or Rome or anywhere, follow the leader.
I raise my bottle to you!

The photos are very interesting especially, the free pool. That must be cool if this could be exist in my country. I wish I could visit there someday of my life though.
The free pool is gorgeous! It is unusual to have one, but, it was put in mostly for tourists just visiting. There are little cantinas all around it, so you don't have to leave your chair to eat, they bring it to you.
It is such a nice atmosphere, but, I never forget it is only a vacation and not real life, but, I do like to dream! @mich.brmey
#MarketFriday loves you! ❤️
Love Mexico heard a lot about it has been to Spain but not Mexico yet been so close but just couldn't get there it's still on my bucket-list 👍
Hey my friend I have one for you here is the link have a awesome weekend 😊
https://ecency.com/hive-163772/@kohsamui99/samrong-beach-and-thongson-bay
Spain and Mexico are so different. Mexico is their laid-back cousin, singing and dancing and taking a siesta when the time is right. :) Check it out before you go now. There is a lot of crime now along the Riviera, so, I won't go back for a while. Too bad, but, I think the pandemic has caused part of the problem and the drugs the other.
I thank you for stopping by and leaving your words and dropping your link!

You do have a point there @dswigle I would imagine lots of crime going on every where because of this pandemic I do need a break but it won't be over there for now maybe Thailand, Vietnam or Bali.
I love the photos is so colourful.

Oh wow I do love those blue skies and blue water that they have. I have never been south of the border, and most likely never will be, but it sure is fun to think about it...living vicariously thru your blog!
The whole atmosphere is idyllic, to be honest. That is how I can tell it is vacations and not real life. The entire Caribbean is that shade of blue, some a little darker with the depth. I used to think the pictures couldn't be real when I was a kid, the Atlantic was not the same blue, which is the only thing I could compare it to at the time and Bermuda is blue, but, a different blue.
I know you haven't been south of the border, but, never say never. If the kids get a hankering to visit, it may be a family trip to remember, yes? Although, nothing is State Department sanctioned lately.
Someday, soon. I need to move about before I freeze in place.
Thanks for reading the post, leaving your words behind.
