Contributing Factors Of Phobia

SOURCE

I almost went in search to know how people develop phobia for something.

But, I had to stop to write this first.
Because the research might make me want to divert from what I think, and I could love the knowledge to come from the comment section as well.

So, I am hoping to get your response and opinion.

When I was little on a good day, we went to the farm, and there were lots of local fruits around.

There is this particular cherry like fruit that was in season.
It normally grows near the river.
As we were walking, we saw it in abundance, all reaped.
I and my siblings rushed, plucked it, and washed it.
Then we took it to our farm, and we enjoyed it on getting to the farm before starting the day's work.

Some hours later, I felt uneasy and started purging so badly that I couldn't do any other thing.

We had to close for the day quickly because of my condition.
It got worse when I got home.

My mom gave me meds for diarrhea as well as malaria based on how I described my body nature.

I got better after some days.

But I developed fear for the fruit, I felt nauseous whenever I perceived the fruit and could not want to see nor touch it again.

It's a local fruit so I hardly get to see it, but I once saw it in our local market.
People who noticed my reaction on seeing the fruit that day were wondering what was wrong with me.

Lately, I also had a similar experience with papaya and I quickly remembered my childhood experience.

But now, there will be difference in my perspective because I won't go by the parable

When one finger touches oil, it spares round to other fingers.

I had an encounter with just a small portion from a ball of papaya in a particular place, which doesn't mean all papaya in the world are bad.

There are various factors that must have caused that reaction in my body.

I have been enjoying these fruits until that one ugly experience.
I have also learnt my lesson through this experience.

Yes, not to buy already peeled papaya from roadside fruit vendor.

To prove my change nature and cut out the spirit of unnecessary fear in me, I will buy a ball of papaya and eat.

I will share my experience and how I successfully fought the fear.

Just wish me well though, because I am kinda acting tough 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I am a bit scared.

But I got this right 😁💪

Thank you very much for stopping by

Phobia for food? My first time hearing about this. I only dislike eating but no fear or reaction towards such food.

Papaya,
I'm not a fan of it and I don't hate it. Maybe it's because we had it excess at backyard while growing up😂

Most people develop some certain things in life.

I love papaya.
And I won't accept not liking it anymore.

Yes you're right, people get some PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) from several experiences that caused them some level of trauma be it emotional or physical.

I had my own fair share of PTSD from eating a plantain chips one time.
Ever since then, I didn't buy from the person 😂

I am a die hard fan of plantain so it didn't stop me from eating plantain chips from other people sha.
Lol.

That good precaution of not getting the papaya that is already peeled will help.

Most of these roadside vendors don't practice safe hygienic food handling.

I'll be waiting to read about your success story on conquering your fears for papaya😂

well done to you perseverance in overcoming and so in resilience can find a new truth. I had too much Tequila once - won't touch the stuff now, but then you can argue that's a good thing lol

It’s called a food aversion instead of phobia but I do know what you’re talking about!

I can’t eat lobster because I got sick off it as a kid and I haven’t been able to eat it in 20 years. I don’t get sick from it now but my stomach gets upset if I eat it simply because I got really ill back then. Funny stuff our body does!
