Canadian WinterThyme Viszions - The End of Winter (1/4)
Diesel, our dog, had destroyed my laptop charger. It left me without this computer for a couple of weeks. I found it one morning, chewed through and I'm glad that I at least unplugged it before I went to sleep. I tried to see if I could get the old charger working by bridging the exposed cable but there was no luck. I ordered one online, and waited for it to arrive. I found the courier doesn't deliver to Post Office Boxes. They needed a physical address. I told them that the PO BOX was my physical address, due to me living out where there was no postal service. Eventually, they told me that I could have it delivered to a local pickup point in town. I was like why didn't you say so? When it came, I went to town to pick up the charger a couple days after it came. As I approached the door of the store, I found it odd that all the lights were off. The store had closed down. On the door, there was a sign saying due to the building inspector or something like that. I left a message on their machine. I was hoping to have got it that day because it's a two hour drive one way just to get to the town. In the wintertime, it's even more difficult. That day, the condition of the road was so bad, I was sure I was going to be stuck in a ditch a few times. Thankfully not. I returned, and a week later, they called me and said they are open for a small period for people to come and pick up their parcels. Thankfully, that second trip was much less difficult to get out.
I came back to a bigger city with having finally grabbed my package. After being in relative silence, the feeling was a bit overwhelming with everything. Maybe overwhelming is not the exact best word, but for sure the feeling was quite different of the quietness of isolation. Like you could feel the stress of the city. The anxiety. But also the excitement and stimulation. With that, more distractions. I found myself getting into some old habits of staying up late, aimlessly browsing the internet. Thankfully, I managed to pull myself away from zombie mode last night before it got ridiculously late... Today I roused myself and leapt out of bed earlier than my usual time, feeling tired all day but eventually found myself here, at my keyboard. Wanting to write and share some pictures, because the whole time... without the laptop I had wanted to. I tried playing around with pictures on my tablet, but it just wasn't the same. Editing photos on your tablet is of course possible, but to me it's no computer. Not having ability to make folders really makes you have to think more. Regardless, now that I have my laptop again, I looked through some of this Winters photos. Coming back South, to here with the birds chirping and the feeling of almost summertime was a bit of an adjustment after being in snow the other day. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to returning to the serenity of the wilderness once my business here in the city is done. Like they say, Silence is Golden. Silence is dense, silence is powerful.
I am glad you finally got the new charger. That sounds really frustrating. Naughty puppy! My kitties are often mischievous also, but I would not trade them for anything.
Yeah, adjusting to the new method of delivery has been a bit of an experience, half the time it always seems like there is something up. But it's been interesting at least and being in nature makes it worthwhile. And yes, dogs and cats can be quite 'playful' at times in interesting ways, but it's like you can't even be mad at them because they're so cute. Thanks for stopping by @harlowjourney 🙃
You got some incredible shots here! Thanks for sharing them with us in the community!
Thank you, I appreciate that a lot @castleberry 🙏
You're very welcome!
I'm delighted your laptop charger is back, despite some minor difficulties; I completely understand how tough it may be to edit or perform some duties using devices other than the laptop you're used to. I'm delighted you've returned. Your winter photos are stunning.
Thank you @drlins! Yeah it was a bit interesting without the computer, but I also took it as a sign to concentrate on some other things and gain some perspective, sometimes it's easy to be stuck in the old habits that don't serve us.
nature is so amazing! beautiful shots :)
Thank you @goddesseva 😇 Yes it is really amazing being out there, I feel truly blessed to be able to. The city is cool sometimes too ... not as cool as Berlin though 😅
Ooooooh, aaaaaaaah. I love winter too, especially since this picture depicts it so beautifully. Truly a work of art. Great Job.
Haha, awe thanks @ykdesign ... 😄 Hope the winter treated you nicely. Or maybe you're going into Winter - I'm not sure which hemisphere you are in 😅 Probably Northern though?
I had a lot of lessons learned there, and many more to come. The cold can certainly be a teacher, and the silence is just so all-encompassing it's almost hard to believe just 'listening to it.'
For me, if it is not my system, I think I have something lacking in life. You shared beautiful photos with us
Thank you, and yes, you know the feeling 😅 Have a great day @azamsohrabi
Happy Easter Monday friend @synrg
Happy Easter indeed, thank you @tobywalter 😎
You are welcome @synrg
Enjoyable captures - the art of possible, I'd say. I live in Russia (near Finland), and the forest landscapes here are the same, as in your photos (tho I live in metropolis and go out to the forest quite rarely).
a hot Hive !PIZZA for you as an extra 🍕
Thanks @qwerrie! I would love to visit Russia one day... Even if it's similar landscapes in some ways! I have seen some youtubers videos and agree there seems to be a lot of similarity. Hope that things are going alright. And hope you get to get out to the forest soon! 🌲😎
