There were Diamonds in the Grass this Morning

(Edited)

Hello dear Hivers, I hope you're all doing well. On our side, it's the end of the holidays and it was yesterday morning when we were packing that I took a few short breaks to take these images.

I'd like to make one recommendation before we get started: you should open the images wide so you can appreciate them in all their detail !

As I progress in my photography, I realize more and more that I particularly like to get as close as possible to the things and details that can generally be found in Nature. These little diamonds dewdrops are no exception to this attraction.

That's why I'm thinking that, in time, I'll have to get myself a zoom lens big enough for macro photography, something like a 105mm. I haven't started looking yet, but for the moment, all these images were taken with my Sigma 17-70mm mounted on my Nikon D5500.

DSC_0010 copy.jpg

What immediately attracted me were, of course, the thousands of points of light that shone brightly as they diffracted the light. For each image, I turned round and round to catch the best angle. The one where the light hit best!

This morning, I thought I remembered an article by @hiddenblade with photos of water drops where she said that it was the best thing to photograph if you didn't have a subject and I have to say that I haven't stopped thinking about it while taking these same images ^^.

But perhaps my memory is failing me....

DSC_0043 copy II.jpg

This one is among my favorites, with its large drops sitting nonchalantly on this blade of grass. You'll also notice the magnifying glass effect of the central drop...

DSC_0058 copy.jpg

Then I moved on to the finer grasses - at 50cm ^^ - where you'd inevitably find smaller drops, and also more of them.

DSC_0067 copy.jpg

DSC_0067 copy II.jpg

That's where I found my purest and most brilliant diamond !

DSC_0069 copy.jpg

DSC_0074 copy.jpg

But the others weren't bad either, and I particularly liked this little family of drops standing in a line on their blade of grass. For me, as soon as I see an image like this, I immediately think 'Miyazaki' ! I don't know, it seems obvious to me, but maybe it's generational too :)

DSC_0137 copy II.jpg

DSC_0158 copy.jpg

The exploration continues in all sorts of places and in all the different configurations offered to us by this cool morning. Ideal conditions for dew formation !

DSC_0168 copy.jpg

It's perhaps for this last image that I'd most recommend taking a walk inside it, to see the thousands of micro-drops all clinging to each other and to the equally numerous hairs of this other variety of grass.

I hope you've enjoyed this journey into the tiny and that you're not too disappointed that they're not real diamonds - I'd have liked that too !

Thank you for your time and a very good day to you all,

<3

DSC_0043 copy II.jpg

<3

These are great photos. I also enjoy taking pics of water droplets wherever I find them, especially on spiderwebs. They're quite difficult sometimes depending on how the light is falling on them so I can appreciate the effort in these. I remember that post by Hiddenblade, she's taken some epic shots of water droplets in the past.

Yeah, with those subjects, all is depending of the light :)

No stress, I know life happens and I really don't hold stuff like that against anyone.

All ok this side. Hope you are well too 😁

Me neither, but I like to be kind of shortly responsive, well most of the time :)

I'm doing fine too, maybe the rhythm of activities is a bit higher that usual, but we'll manage 😉

Take good care 😘

These are actual diamonds! You can't convince me otherwise dear Sir.
I zoomed in and was like, what's this magnificence?"
I think water drop photos are the most wonderful things ever. And I'm sure it must have been super fun for you as well.🌺

Lovely photos of "water diamonds". Nature certainly offers us so many lovely things to marvel at. The photos were up close enough for us to appreciate their beauty especially after opening the images. It is as though we are there with you. I love seeing dewdrops - it is a sign that I woke up early to appreciate the stillness of the morning.

Pretty, but fragile diamonds. If you touch one, it could maybe roll away. So cool to see them on that green grass, and the magnifying glass effect is indeed visible 👌

Hey! How are you dear @anttn? I'm glad to read you :) Well, the situation in Argentina is not very good, there is a lot of inflation, insecurity and a shortage of food and basic products is beginning.

I am not Argentine, I am from Venezuela but I have been here for 8 years and precisely, things are happening very similar to what I experienced before leaving my country... How ironic!

I can talk to you about many other things but here it becomes very extensive.

How are you? I hope you enjoyed your weekend 😊

Hello dear @dimascastillo90 ! I'm fine, thank you, maybe a bit tired at some point, but this is just normal with the start of the new school year :)

I know, things are not easy there and it's one of the reason I asked you about... I hope you manage to go through, even it's not easy or possible ! It's indeed quite ironic, but surely not for the best !

We can also connect on Discord if you want

Courage for the period and most of all, stay safe 😘

These macro waterdrops are just like sunset photos. A temptation for photographers.
I like the photo you prefer best too, because you captured that magnifying glass effect of the water droplet. Congratulations!

One of my favourite moments or memories ever was laying in the damp grass at a festival at 4 am with the guy that was going to be - and ended up - my husband the following weekend. We were high and looking at the light reflecting off the spots of water on the blades of grass. Just magical and lovely.

By the way... I will do my part, what tea or herbal would you prefer ?

Jamie's coffee or any kind of tea with oat or ordinary milk, I'm usually a herbal - peppermint, licorice, chamomile, nettle - but depending on my nervous system, a morning coffee with oat milk or black is good! Anything not fruity or sweet :) But we will have all we need in the Land Rover!

This is nice to hear everything is going like this !

The house project will take years at least 😅, we have to restore a lot inside and the garden will also come with the season, next year mostly, but this winter already, we'll plant several trees !

Many thanks dear @hindavi, take good care as well, greeting 😇😘

Sorry for being so late! But have been very busy the last 2 weeks with business trips and other stuff...
Nevertheless, I'd like to suggest you look into "macro rings" instead of investing in a new lens. They move the focal point of the lens away from the film / sensor and are way cheaper than lenses.
Oh, before I forget: that pictures in this articles all are so beautiful! 🥰
