Whatta Wonderful World

A timeless classic that I was recently reunited with... A truly beautiful song...

I first heard this song at the end of the film, Madeline. Have you heard of such a film? Or perhaps you're more familiar with the book series?

Either way, I heard this song for the very first time, I was about 5-years-old, and even at such a young age, the song pulled at my heart strings. I could recognize that it was a happy song with a happy message, but there was still a tint of sadness tucked within it. Does it make me want to cry happy tears? sorrowful tears?? I don't know...

This song recently came on for the first time in many years... And of course, it could not have come during a more appropriate time. I have been reading about enlightenment, soul-searching, the greater meaning to life...

...and Louis Armstrong's lyrics reflect this theme perfectly. There are those who believe that we all stem from the same source, that we are spiritual beings here to share a human experience.

For what reason -- who knows?! 🤪 But if we are to believe this, then everything on this earth truly exists for you. All of life is taking place for you, the flowers bloom for you, the birds sing for you. If we all came from the same source, then we are all simply different reflections of that source.

Think of all of the different forms of potato: mashed, French fried, hash browned... but it all comes from the same potato. Or even a recipe that calls for potato, like shepherd's pie, where the potato is no longer distinguishable; still came from the same potato. It really is a wonderful world!

I think it is the last verse that speaks to me the most, specifically:

🎶 They'll learn much more

Than I'll ever know 🎶

The current generation can only learn from the past ones, and that knowledge helps them uncover new knowledge -- it's how we continue to live on.

It was something I gave thought to the other day, the nihilistic attitude of, "What's the point? You live, die, and are forgotten." I choose to look at it this way... I stand by my beliefs during trying times.

The only reason I possess such courage, is because I have had the opportunity to read of others' experiences doing the same. I am a reflection of every single person who has stood for their beliefs, and I will be reminiscent in every future individual who will do the same.
