My Actifit Report Card: August 23 2024

The following two photos are chickens made from hay bales for the Municipal Harvest Festival. Probably every Pole knows that this is a traditional farmers' holiday celebrated after the harvest, i.e. the harvest of crops. It is most often held at the end of summer, usually in August or early September. It is a time of thanksgiving for the harvest and hard work in the field. During the Harvest Festival, various events are organized, such as festivals, competitions and artistic performances. An important element of this holiday is the Harvest Exhibition, during which Harvest Wreaths woven from ears of grain, flowers and herbs are presented. Such a presentation often takes the form of a procession from the church, where thanks are given for the harvest of the fields during a solemn mass earlier. Harvest Festivals are more often held in villages, but they can also be found in cities. In the last two photos you can see the Orthodox Church, one of the oldest in Poland, I will probably prepare a longer post about it :)

Poniższe dwa zdjęcia to kurczaki zrobione z bali siana na Dożynki Gminne. Zapewne każdy Polak wie, że to tradycyjne święto rolników obchodzone po zakończeniu żniw, czyli zbiorów plonów. Najczęściej odbywają się pod koniec lata, zwykle w sierpniu lub na początku września. Jest to czas dziękowania za urodzaj i ciężką pracę na polu. W trakcie dożynek organizowane są różnorodne wydarzenia, takie jak festyny, konkursy czy występy artystyczne. Ważnym elementem tego święta jest wystawa dożynkowy, podczas której prezentowane są wieńce dożynkowe uplecione z kłosów zbóż, kwiatów i ziół. Taka prezentacja często jest w formie procesji z kościoła, gdzie wcześniej na uroczystej mszy dziękuje się za urodzaje pół. Dożynki raczej częściej odbywają się na wsiach, ale można je też spotkać w miastach.
