Hello friends of the beautiful life

After Santo Domingo my "home town" Punta Cana looks a bit dreary. But there are only 2 weeks left, then it's off to Sosua. And even in this time I will take a few days off to go to the capital again.
Here in the Dominican Republic the public transport works very well with buses, for long distances there are modern coaches with all comfort, incl. toilets. For shorter distances there are local buses without anything. The prices range from 3 to 10 dollars, so it is dirt cheap. However, it has one drawback. The online services are not convenient, you can buy tickets only at the bus stations and only on the same day. Which is very surprising, because poaching passengers is commonplace even in front of the offices of "hostile" bus companies.
Also, bus terminals usually belong to only one company, with competitors stopping outside on the street. Once you understand that, traveling is easy.
Downtown I really only recommend Uber, fast and incredibly cheap. Never sit in a cab, there's always trouble with payment. Also with Uber it is better to pay online incl. tip.
Motorcycle cabs are here on every corner, for this you have to bring a great sense of adventure, and again take only motorcycle cabs via Uber. Otherwise you will have a problem with the payment, almost guaranteed.

Nach Santo Domingo sieht mein "Heimatort" Punta Cana etwas trist aus. Aber es sind ja nur noch 2 Wochen, dann geht es nach Sosua. Und selbst in dieser Zeit werde ich mir ein paar Tage freinehmen, um nochmal in die Hauptstadt zu fahren.
Hier in der Dominikanischen Republik funktioniert der öffentliche Verkehr sehr gut mit Bussen, für große Entfernungen sind es moderne Reisebusse mit allem Komfort, incl. Toiletten. Für kürzere Stecke gibt es die lokalen Busse ohne alles. Die Preise bewegen sich von 3 bis 10 Dollar, es ist also spottbillig. Allerdings hat es einen Nachteil. Die Onlineauftritte sind nicht komfortabel, man kann Tickets nur an den Busstationen kaufen und auch nur am selben Tag. Was sehr verwunderlich ist, denn das Abwerben von Fahrgästen ist selbst vor den Büros der "feindlichen" Busunternehmen gang und gäbe.
Auch gehören die Busterminals meist nur einem Unternehmen, die Wettbewerber halten draußen auf der Straße. Wenn man das einmal begriffen hat, dann ist das Reisen einfach.
Innerstädtisch empfehle ich wirklich nur Uber, schnell und unglaublich billig. Setzt Euch nie in ein Taxi, es gibt immer Ärger bei der Bezahlung. Auch bei Uber ist es besser, ihr bezahlt online incl. Trinkgeld.
Motorradtaxis gibt es hier an jeder Ecke, hierzu muss man eine große Abenteuerlust mitbringen, und auch hier nehmt nur Motorradtaxis per Uber. Bei der Bezahlung habt ihr sonst wieder ein Problem, fast garantiert.

All that glitters is not gold

Arrived in Santo Domingo, I had to walk about 1 km to the hotel, half of it through the not o beautiful SD.
Actually, I wanted to take some photos, but the first thing a local told me was: plug in your cell phone or someone else will have it.
And that is also so. Three times on a total of 4 km outside the zone a motorcyclist wanted to snatch the cell phone from my hands. But since it is the same in Punta Cana, I was prepared and still have it. So taking pictures is no fun, because you can't take any snapshots if you have to get the cell phone out of your pocket first.

Es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt

Angekommen in Santo Domingo, musste ich ca. 1 km zu Fuß zum Hotel, die Hälfte davon durch das nicht o schöne SD.
Eigentlich wollte ich ein paar Fotos machen, doch das Erste, was mir ein Lokale gesagt hat, war: Steckt Dein Handy ein, sonst hat es ein anderer.
Und das ist auch so. Dreimal auf insgesamt 4 km außerhalb der Zone wollte mir ein Motorradfahrer das Handy aus den Händen reißen. Aber da es in Punta Cana genauso ist, war ich vorbereitet und es habe es noch. So macht Fotografieren keinen Spaß, weil man keine Schnappschüsse machen kann, wenn man das Handy erst aus der Tasche holen muss.

Inside the zone, it's completely different. Then you feel like you were in Spain or Italy 40 years ago. Peaceful, relaxed. I don't understand how that's possible, because you hardly see any surveillance cameras and there's not that much security either.

Next time I'll take a companion with me to take pictures.

Innerhalb der Zone ist das vollkommen anders. Dann fühlt man sich wie in Spanien oder Italien vor 40 Jahren. Friedvoll, relaxt. Ich versteh nicht, wie das möglich ist, denn man sieht kaum Überwachungskameras und soviel Security ist auch nicht zu sehen.

Das nächste Mal nehme ich einen Begleiter mit zum Fotografieren.
