I Show You My Latest Purchase - 18 kt Gold Fountain Pen from 1920

Hello everyone, it has been a bit too long that I have not bored you with my posts on fountain pens!

Today I am showing you a very special pen that I bought last week.
It is a Waterman Ideal model 42 made in the 1920s.

Oggi vi mostro una penna molto particolare che ho acquistato la scorsa settimana.
Si tratta di una Waterman Ideal modello 42 realizzata negli anni 20 del '900.

The thing that most impresses is the level of detail of the chiselling that covers almost the entire pen.

The body is made of 18 kt gold while the nib is made of 14 kt gold.

La cosa che impressiona maggiormente è il livello di dettaglio della cesellatura che ricopre quasi la totalità della penna.

Il corpo è realizzato in oro 18 kt mentre il pennino è in oro 14 kt.

The nice thing is that no two of this model are alike because the engravings are handmade and are different from pen to pen according to the taste of the customer who ordered it.

La cosa bella è che di questo modello non ce ne sono due di uguali perchè le incisioni sono fatte a mano e sono diverse da penna a penna a secondo il gusto del cliente che la ordinava.

Another aspect that characterizes this pen is that the nib is retractable, so it moves in and out of the body, rotating the caseback with your fingers.
This system allows you to significantly reduce the length of the pen when not in use.
