Hello everyone! Zak here from Cape Town!

Recently I have been reading Warhammer 40,000 fiction again and after all these years there is something that has definitely remained the same!

There is always more content in the books than there is in the tabletop game!

I am busy reading the Dawn of Fire series which includes all of the happenings around the start of the Primaris and the Custodes getting involved in the wider galaxy as well as other "newer" factions.

Usually, this also meant that there is more content in the tabletop than there is any game and although a lot of the modern games that are out there focus massive attention to detail to certain things, the games are only able to do so much content all in one go and I think this will hold true!

This is pretty much just a question of VOLUME since it is impossible to make art and program so much content into a single RTS, FPS or RPG before the game is due for an upgrade!

Meanwhile the tabletop now sports nothing less than 29 factions with more subfactions within the details of the rules. For instance: The Ironstorm Taskforce is a Detachment of the Space Marines that exemplifies the Iron Hands Chapter's method of warfare.

But do not think that I am disparaging of the PC games. They are awesome in their own right and allow you to explore the universe in a totally different way and enjoy the game!

Then there are the books... and boy there are always going to be more in THERE than can be expected of anything... I read this stuff and I wonder what it would be like to have these units represented in the game.

Of course, this is the next step in hobby development, when the players start making custom game rules because they are enacting a battle or scene from the lore!

Warhammer 40k is many things... it CAN be like a sport like Chess... but it CAN also be a role playing game, where both sides of a battle are using the models to represent a story and a scenario and their actions and the choices they make are there to interpret what happens in that scenario.

Cool things that I have read about recently:

A House of Imperial Knights who have cyber canids and deploy a Drop Keep onto the battlefield! This means they literally drop a castle from space. A castle big enough to house massive walking war engines!

The leader of this Household is a woman and her heir is in charge of this particular engagement and they call her by the title: Princess!

How aresome is that?!

Not only that, her and her kin, who are the pilots of the Knights wear big power-swords on their backs!

I could think of nothing cooler than a Knight going down and there being a chance for the pilot with a big sword to hop out and continue fighting!

They do this for one of the Epic Hero of the Imperial Knights: Canis Rex, the legendary Freeblade.

Hopefully I can find more cool stuff in the books and bring this to life in upcoming games!
