(ESP-ENG) Todos los caminos llevan a... ¿Colapinto? [Opinión]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
We are currently in a brief 3 week break before entering the final stretch of the season with its last three races. This means that as there is no activity on the tracks or in the paddocks, things are heating up outside of them. Rumors and news are raining down, even more than in Interlagos, about that final position next to Tsunoda or possible changes in some of the teams theoretically already defined for 2025. The reality is that Franco Colapinto has been a very welcome revolution in Formula 1, both for his immense quality behind the wheel and for the charisma he radiates, which is why he has been in vogue and on the radar of many out there.
The first thing to confirm is that Sauber has finally spoken and decided to seat Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto in one of their cars, as had been speculated for some time. I don't know if the Argentinean ever had a chance to be next to Hulkenberg, but since there was a vacancy, the possibilities had to be taken into account. So, taking the Swiss team out of the equation, we get into Red Bull. Is it possible that we will see Franco dressed in RB next year? - The latest news says yes. There have been many specialized portals and journalists in charge of bringing out some information on the matter. James Vowles, head of Williams, would have asked RB for almost 20 million to free Colapinto so he can leave with Horner and company.
All this would happen in the event that, as has also been sounding a lot, Checo is released from the main team. The Mexican driver's contract is very important with RB, and there are several clauses that make it more cumbersome and complicated to dispense with his services than to keep him for another year. But what happened in Mexico and Brazil, the fact that RB has dropped to third place in the team standings and that Checo has not been performing well since April in the Chinese Grand Prix are things that may be starting to bother the heads of the team.
Christian Horner has already spoken about Colapinto expressing how good a driver he is and how well he is doing things despite his “inexperience” in Formula 1. To see the Argentinian sitting next to Verstappen, who by the way is said to be asking him to be his teammate, would really be a historical milestone. But of course, we have that open seat at Racing Bulls. Lawson is not confirmed to continue in 2025, his contract is until the end of the season but most likely he will be signed permanently. Maybe the New Zealander will be the one to move up next to Max and Franco will be the one to sit next to Yuki. The options are very varied and all, or almost all, depend on the future of the Argentinean.
Of course, maybe here we are debating for a fact that will never happen and that in the end Perez will be the one to finish his contract with Red Bull. The pressure to which the Mexican is being exposed is maximum, in fact all the problems and the low performance he is showing I venture to say that it is due to the lack of confidence and insecurities he is going through. Feeling that your replacement is literally just around the corner, several positions away from the paddock and also that the support of your bosses is being questioned (Horner and Marko) I think it is a reason for doubts to appear. It is not justifiable because Checo is a veteran in Formula 1 but in the end we are all human.
I think Franco Colapinto's future will be forged in the three remaining awards (Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi), depending on how he and Checo close the season many things will be defined. It is also likely that Racing Bulls will announce or confirm who will be Tsunoda's teammate, but there is no tentative date for that. The reality is that whatever decision is made I am 100% sure it will be made with Franco between eyebrows, a talent like the Argentinean will be very difficult to leave him out and even more after what he has shown on the track. So yes, it is very likely that all roads lead to Colapinto, what do you think? - Is Franco's continuity guaranteed...?
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
