Blessed Sunday! Hope the week has been good to yah! Today for lunch we went and got something even vegans would love, Yaki soba noodles and veggies. Usually I prefer my Yaki soba with a little meat but this noodle was tasting so good, I didn’t miss meat at all.

The yakisoba shop has been around for over 50 years and is still doing good business. There main has always been takeout but they have a small space for dining. This place always has a stream of customers flowing through and I like the fact that they only have a few items. A long with the yakisoba noodles in 4 sizes ( small, medium, large and jumbo), they also have Japanese sweets with the most popular being Dorayaki.( I will talk about that a later in the post.

In the window of the establishment, we can see old Japanese figurines.

After waiting for a couple minutes and watching customers come in and out, our noodles came carried by an elder lady probably in her 80s. I was worried she would drop the plate as she carried it much like my sons do, leaning the plates to one side. This was my plate of noodles and this was the medium size. Not too shabby.

For dessert, I had one of the Dorayakis, with butter in between. Dorayaki is basically mini pancakes with fillings such as butter, beans paste, Mallon, matcha, etc between it like a sandwich. These things also sell like crazy here. The amount of people I saw purchase at least a dozen within the 1hr we were there made me know that this business will probably be around for another 50 years.

Cheers 🥂
And Have a Blessed Week ahead!

That lady has probably been carrying plates for about 60 years now, no need to worry. xD
Looks like a good portion for medium size. And also very appetizing for something without meat.

I really though she was gonna drop some of those noodles out the plate but you are right! She has all the experience, who was I to doubt her. It was a proper size indeed, but after eating it I wish I took the large !

Hi brot, I must say that I am passionate about pasta, I even learned to make it in different ways. I would like to try this dish that you present. There is so much to eat, I feel that life will not be enough to try it all ha ha ha ha Those noodles, they must taste like glory.
Also, the pictures you share of the space you went to, seems to be very autochthonous. From the west all those places seem very mystical, maybe you are used to it, but I still like it and I am impressed.

Yo bro! You know I lost sight of the mystery of Japan at one point, but it came back and I admire it even more now. It is always good to see the old culture remain and flourish even in this new age. Many business have folded but this one stands strong. Sometimes keeping things simple really works out in the long run.

Ahhaha you are right, so many foods to try we need around 3 lifetimes.

Now I definitely would like to try Dorayakis, especially when I read what it's made of.
