-No niña.

Sofia excitedly cut the flowers in her grandfather's garden. It was barely 9 in the morning and the sun was already painting her face pink. Her delicate white skin resembled the softness of the flowers she cut with great care. Grateful for her luck, she thanked Mother Nature. Her grandfather, upon seeing her, approached her to talk to her for a while.

-What are you doing, princess?-

-I'm cutting the flowers that Mother Nature gives me- Sofia answered with a slight, contained smile.

-When my mother was alive, she told me that flowers were beautiful to please people, to decorate their gardens and their vases in the dining room and living room-

The old man could not reduce even a little the euphoria that the girl's innocence inspired in him.

-Sofia. Flowers are not here to please us, they are here because we plant them, their vocation is not to please humans, they are like that to attract insects so they can reproduce. They do it to preserve their species-

-Grandpa, what you say is very selfish, I was taught that all plants are there to serve us, that's what Mother Nature made them for-

-No, girl. We use them, although each species does more or less the same thing. We take care of them, we water them and we put fertilizers on them so that they are healthy and pretty, but they don't become pretty to thank us for that care, it is simply the result of it, it is the most natural, the most logical thing to happen. In the same way, for example, the neighbor's flowers that are withered, they are not like that because they are taking revenge, they are like that because of lack of water and nutrients-

-So the flowers are selfish?-

-They couldn't, for that they would have to have a conscience-

-Well, now explain to me what conscience is, then-

-That is much more difficult to explain, we better leave it for after lunch-....
