The Tipping Point of Hive

(Edited)

There are two type of people: the poor and the not so poor.

The poor ones might work hard every day, only to end up in the same spot, over and over again. The Sisyphus Effect (named after the founder and king of Ephyra, punished for cheating death twice by being forced to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity).

On the other side, the Snowball Effect. A little push, and the snow ball goes down the slop, collecting all the fame and power.

But how does that look here on Hive? Before I jump to my conclusion, a bit of technical details.

Hive is a decentralized blockchain and ecosystem built on the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) protocol; three-second zero-fee transactions, designed to store vast amounts of content and to make it available for time-based monetization. All this enabled by inflation. New HIVE is created every day, and fairly spited between developers, blockchain validators, stakeholders, and content creators.

Current supply: 379,909,400 HIVE
Current reward fund: 752,593 HIVE (for one week)
Current printing rate: 1,157,835.38 HIVE per week
Current active users: 16,269 (accounts that made at least a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or HBD conversion)

How to interpret this data?

In average, people that are making less than 71.17 HIVE/week, independent on how they making it, are loosing their stake in the blockchain:

Myself, I'm somewhere around 50% of this point. This is a motivation factor for me, and an objective for which I have a strong commitment.

How about you?

By the way, if someone wants to double check, these are the sources for my data:

Very solid point here, and indeed it is motivating - I was thinking about this the other day, but in regards to the validators I run for the Cosmos ecosystem, and what # i'd have to be at to at least maintain an even stake-weight.

I'm getting:
26.48 HP in curation
21.40 HP in Author rewards
51.51 HBD which, if I convert in HIVE is around 34 HIVE (at the current price)
So, could I say I do around 100 Hive a week only posting and curating?
If so, where I am in your chart?

Congrats! You started to roll down that small snow ball.
Looking forward for the big avalanche!

How is the tipping point calculated?
I think it is a good indicator of where you need to be in order to keep your stake in the game and maybe influence more in the future.

How is the tipping point calculated?

I made a simple division of the total new HIVE to the number of active users. We should be above the average, right?

I should actually check out how much I make in Hive terms per week too… I think I should be close to @toofasteddie c.100 Hive per week.

Thanks for this calculation, I will check out how I am doing, I think I am not making enough, but we’re growing strong

Those are some interesting stats. I don't think I earn more than that amount of HIVE each week but my stake is growing over time. Hopefully I will be above that point eventually.

Good grief!!

Even when I was consistently posting, I didn't make 10% of that.
