What is gold to you?
I have always been attracted to gold because it evokes a desire to save and minimizes my desire to spend my money. Taking possession of gold can be a very emotional experience while selling it can be emotionally hurtful.
The fact that gold has this characteristic separates it from other assets that money can purchase.
Paper currency is easier to part with, and paying with a check is much easier. A credit card swipe is even easier. However, parting with an ounce of gold can be painful.
When I pick up this gold, a humbling feeling creep over me. It is an attractive piece, and I am taken up by its beauty. I am amazed at the details of Saint Gaudens' design of the Standing Liberty.
Gold must be the most beautiful metal in the world.
There is so much history in gold. It has always been and continuously used as a store of wealth... for centuries. Gold has been remarkably stable compared to others as a store of value.
It's valuable, and people desire it.
Its true value is understated, and gold is forever wealth. It is not the common man who could afford it... but you and I can!
Let's take advantage of it while we can... accumulate some of this forever wealth.

For me, gold is a sign of prestige and nobility. The most precious of them all! I don't know how true is it but alchemists say that all metals are on their way to becoming gold.
I wonder... hahaha!
For sure, the silver I had for a long, long time is still silver. But is I sold those and bought gold with the proceeds, it will be gold!

Amigo @silversaver888 yo vivo en Venezuela. Llevamos más de 20 años con el mismo régimen dictatorial, y muchos llevamos muchos años luchando en fuertes protestas pero no hemos podido hacer nada y estamos cansados, el mundo no ha hecho nada por nosotros, solo engañarnos, desde hace años pedimos a Dios que nos ayude a que nos dejen en paz y libertad. Hoy la situación es cada vez peor para muchos, la inflación se desborda, usamos dólares como moneda más fuerte aunque sea ilegal porque no es nuestra moneda local, sino que la nuestra está totalmente devaluada, no podemos alimentarnos adecuadamente, la condición de los servicios, cortes de luz, internet, señal telefónica, agua, los servicios de salud solo funcionan para los ricos, y así un largo etcétera. En este momento muchos vuelven a salir del país para buscar calidad de vida para ellos y los que dejan aquí, aventurándose sin saber lo que les puede pasar en el camino. Estas semanas incluso las condiciones climáticas han estado en contra causando tragedias y derrumbes en ciertas partes del país. Todas estas situaciones están generando muchos problemas de salud en las personas y problemas nerviosos, de ansiedad e incluso a mí me está pasando esto hace unos años. Humildemente hacemos lo que podemos. En mi caso casi no me queda familia en el país, todos se han ido, pero yo no me quiero ir, solo tengo a mi esposo y a mi hija cerca, ningún otro familiar, todos están dispersos por el mundo. Esa es la situación de muchos venezolanos, no es solo mi caso, todos lo estamos sufriendo. En colmena al menos he encontrado un refugio, amistades, gente que se apoya, muchos venezolanos, ha sido una experiencia maravillosa. Ya no me rindo por el estado de ánimo, los problemas depresivos y de salud, además de los problemas de luz e internet, además mis aparatos son obsoletos, estoy juntando y sé que pronto compraré una laptop, y aunque sea poco gano algo, ayer de esta manera pude agasajar a mi hija en su cumpleaños, ella también está aquí en hive, su nombre de usuario es Shinfxx. Gracias amigo por tu interés y por preguntarme. Ese es un breve repaso de lo que vivimos aquí en el campo hace más de 20 años.

I've been to Juneau and Skagway, Skagway was a lot of fun.
I remember their jewelry shops up there also sold natural raw gold nuggets, or set on rings, bracelets and earrings.

Gold (and silver) are God's money! I understand what you're saying. It would be much, much harder to part with the gold over fiat money (cash, debit &/or credit).
