2022 Gold American Eagle

2022 Gold American Eagle, $10

It was President Theodore Roosevelt who commissioned the US Mint to create a new design for America's primary gold coins. It was envisioned that it would bring the American coin design into the 20th century.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the obverse in 1905 for the US Mint. He depicts Liberty walking along the Potomac River as she leaves Washington DC and symbolizes her role in leading the nation into a brighter future. Liberty holds a torch high to light the way while her left hand clutches an olive branch symbolizing peace.

Saint-Gaudens designed the $20 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle gold piece from1905 to 1907 for the US Mint which is considered one of the most beautiful American coins ever issued. He likewise designed the $10 "Indian Head" gold eagle which was minted from 1907 until 1933.

This is the obverse design of Gold American Eagle. It is one of the most beautiful, the most popular, Gold bullion coins in the United States.

The sun's rays are in the background field. The US Capitol Building is visible to the left of her feet. The word “Liberty” is engraved above her head and the year of issue is engraved within the rays.

Saint-Gaudens’ original design included 46 stars around her figure. In 1912, the US Mint added two more stars to the design to reflect the addition of Arizona and New Mexico to the Union. For the uncirculated American Gold Eagle, the US Mint added two more stars to bring the total to 50 and reflect the additions of Hawaii and Alaska to the Union after World War II.

The reverse of the American Gold Eagle features a life-like image of the American bald eagle’s head in left-profile relief. The powerful hook of the beast’s beak is prominent in the design, as is its stoic gaze as the one eye visible seems to be staring directly at the viewer. Inscriptions on the coins read “United States of America,” “E Pluribus Unum,” and “In God We Trust” stacked in descending order at the top of the design rim above the eagle’s head. There are three stars on either side of the design rim, with an inscription along the lower rim that reads “10 Dollars” and “1/4 oz Fine Gold.” Source

The Saint-Gauden's design of Liberty is a classic and truly beautiful. Augustus Saint-Gaudens was an American sculptor of the Beaux-Arts generation who embodied the ideals of the American Renaissance.

Really cool history about this coins. They're truly beautiful. Of late, I've been thinking of getting into precious metals. I believe they'll be worth more in the future

That's one coin I've always wanted to add to my stack @silversaver888...... I have always balked, because of the high premiums. Another Gold coin that is a staple of our Gold coin U.S. History!!

A beautiful version! @silvertop's childhood friend's father, used to bury his 1 oz gold of the same design, in the bottom of the aquarium as no one would have thought to look there for them. Might have been a bit of a pain to extract should the need have arisen, but it was hidden kind of in plain sight!

A lovely addition to your stack sis! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day! Love ya much!💞😘🤗🌸. !LADY

Yes, it is a wonderful addition and I'm awfully proud of myself for being able to do this!
Sometimes, detachment is very hard to practice. That is why I don't bring out my stack from previous years. All that I have that's out are purchase of this year.. and then some.
Hugs and kisses sis 🤗

Stunning, isn't it? I wish you were just here so I can let you hold it for real, sis 🤗
When I get the coin, it is in a plastic flip. I then transfer it into a capsule, so that the coin is protected from scratches. I take care of them because I usually save up for the coin, and that is not easy for me.
Thanks for visiting, @jonalyn2020! I hope this will not be the first and only time. Accompany me in my journey to save in silver and gold.

It would be an honor at the same time pleasure to see all your collections in real. I love them all. I remember my husband used to save some old silver coins of Philippines. Up until now it is still here. But they're not as awesome as yours. 😅 and I can see that you really take good care of them. Such an inspiration.

With gold prices this low, I was wondering when you were going to show a new gold St. Gauden's any time soon.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️
