Will LeoFinance ever have a feature like instagram reels and TikTok?

With the addition of LeoThreads, the microblogging feature will evolve to allow embedded videos into threads - bringing us into an era where micro content has a home on Hive.

Collaboration With 3Speak?

With an idea like LeoTok, we’d prefer to collaborate with a platform like @threespeak instead of creating our own video hosting platform completely from scratch. 3speak is an incredible project and we could definitely envision a cool collaboration between LeoFinance and 3speak to allow users to upload short-form video content - say 15-60 seconds - and then have them post on #LeoThreads!

LeoThreads is the future of engagement on LeoFinance. Many of us have already found a new home on Threads and I believe this is only going to deepen our experience on Hive as we continue to add new features.

Would be smart to have a shorts like feature for 3spk but that would incorporate all and not be limited. Just think about the amount of content that would be dropped on to hive daily it would be huge in terms of resource credits being used. If done right it should also attract decent views to the platforms.

i think it could be done, if not right away maybe when 3speak finishes all their decentralized infrastructure. sometimes, really rarely, it happens that video is posted on 3speak but does not go to hive. Or maybe leofinance could use one of the light accounts they are working on so everything would be uploaded on something leo account but connected with the original poster because it is posted on leo threads.

maybe @vaultec would have some better ideas.

my main concern is furthering the decentralization of 3Speak's nodes so that the risk of attack is lower when there's so much redundancy. I feel like this should involved IPFS & 3Speak

i am kinda almost sure that they do use IPFS. but the final idea of 3speak is people running storage nodes and being rewarded for running it. so the idea is to have as much nodes storing content. also nodes will be able to pick videos to store so there could be people from leo community running nodes for leo content...

I can definitely get behind hosting infra locally. I would love to be able to help host the whole 3Speak video repo, but I think that would get too data-restrictive since I don't have much hardware rn

Leofinance is contantly making hive, more interesting by the day, first it was leo thread now is leo tok, it a very nice innovation, sooner we will have tik tok, facebook, whatsapp, all together here on hive as the leo thread is just like twitter but on hive.

Cool idea will be awesome having LeoThreads host short form videos, I will rather have LeoThreads App fully built to mobile stage first before integrating other capabilities.

This initiative of LeoTok is also interesting. Leo is a project that is becoming more and more popular. However, I too would prefer that instead of creating something new, he would start a collaboration with 3Speak

TikTok has a certain success formula which is more than just short videos. They also have an algorithm which makes it easy to discover fun stuff, and features like reacting to another video on a split screen, a library of songs you can dance to, and probably more stuff I don't know, because I don't use it. So if you want to copy it successfully, there's more work to do than connecting microblogs to a video service.
