Following the visit to the Salt Alcacer Archaer Crypt, where we explore the oldest aspect in the city, we continue our tour in search of more history . The next destination was the Roman Forum, which allowed us to know even more was where the Romans dominated this region.

Após a visita à Cripta Arqueológica de Alcácer do Sal, onde exploramos a vertente mais antiga da cidade, continuamos o nosso passeio em busca de mais história . O próximo destino foi o Fórum Romano, que nos permitiu conhecer ainda mais era em que os romanos dominavam esta região.

Located in the vicinity of the castle, it is an impressive testimony of the importance that Alcácer of the Sal had during the Roman period. This space, which has been in the past the center of the city’s political, economic and social life, offers an idea of ​​the life of the Romans. The ruins of the still visible forum reveal the foundations of public buildings and temples, and it is possible to imagine the movement of people and the flow of decisions that shaped the course of local history.

Localizado nas proximidades do castelo, é um testemunho impressionante da importância que Alcácer do Sal teve durante o período romano. Este espaço, que foi no passado o centro da vida política, económica e social da cidade, oferece uma ideia da vida dos romanos. As ruínas do fórum, ainda visíveis, revelam as fundações de edifícios públicos e templos, sendo possível imaginar o movimento das pessoas e o fluxo de decisões que moldavam o curso da história local.

We continue our tour towards the flagship Clock Tower. Situated at the highest point in the city, it is a symbol of surveillance and control over the vast allentejan plain and the Sado River. The clock, which is centured in the pace of the city, is an important piece of the place.

Continuamos nosso passeio em direção à emblemática Torre do Relógio. Situada no ponto mais alto da cidade, é um símbolo de vigilância e controle sobre a vasta planície alentejana e o Rio Sado. O relógio, que há séculos marca o ritmo da cidade, é uma peça importante do local.

From there, we head to St. Mary's Church of the Castle, which is within the walls of the castle. This church, it is one of the religious and architectural heritages of Salt Alcacer. Built in the 12th century, in Romanesque style, the St. Mary of Castle Church offers an atmosphere of serenity and spirituality.

De lá, seguimos para a Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo, que fica no interior das muralhas do castelo. Esta igreja, é uma das heranças religiosas e arquitetônicas de Alcácer do Sal. Construída no século XII, em estilo românico, a Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo oferece uma atmosfera de serenidade e espiritualidade.

After we go through the church, we choose to walk through historic streets for a farewell to this special place.
We finish the day thankful for having the opportunity to explore such a beautiful, history-filled city, where the past is present on every corner. Salt Alcácer is undoubtedly a place that has surprised us and we are going to keep fondly in our remembrance.

Após passarmos pela igreja, optamos por caminhar pelas ruas históricas para uma despedida deste lugar tão especial.
Terminamos o dia agradecidos por termos a oportunidade de explorar uma cidade tão bonita e cheia de história, onde o passado está presente em cada esquina. Alcácer do Sal é, sem dúvida, um lugar que nos surpreendeu e que vamos guardar com carinho na nossa lembrança.
