Back from Vacation!!

Hello friends! How are you?

I’ve been away from the community for a while—two months of essentially unplugging from everything. But now, I want to get back to writing posts here and slowly share the various things I did over these two months. There have been many beautiful moments, as well as some tough ones, but most importantly, there have been so many changes that life always throws our way. It’s been a truly intense two months.

Naturally, the first thing I did this summer was return to Sicily to visit my relatives, including my grandparents. It was wonderful to return to my homeland, which I had missed dearly. With my dear friends, I had a new experience that I had never had the time to do before. We went to the Zingaro Nature Reserve, a beautiful natural spot located on the northwestern coast of Sicily between the towns of Castellammare del Golfo and San Vito Lo Capo. The first thing I wanted to do was enjoy a refreshing swim in the Sicilian sea, which I hadn’t done in a long time. But I also wanted to see some natural beauty I had never witnessed before. Luckily, since one of my friends is also a biologist, she took us to this Sicilian paradise.

The Zingaro Nature Reserve was established back in 1981 and was the first protected area in Sicily.
I’ve shared some photos of the hiking trail we had to walk, covering several kilometers to reach this wonder. To preserve this place, it can’t be reached by car or motorized vehicles, only on foot through some quite challenging trails.

I still remember the heat of that day—we walked several kilometers under the sun in 40-degree weather, which was neither fun nor easy. But as I always say, the effort is always rewarded. We ended up diving into the sea and spent several hours swimming together, which was a lovely experience.
So, if you visit Sicily, I recommend going to this place because there are beautiful coves where you can even see fish, as shown in my photos. Another activity, though better done during cooler periods, is trekking. The reserve has several trails for hiking.

I hope my story and photos have been interesting. I hope to write a few more posts, though it’s a bit more complicated now since I’ve started both university and work. I’ll do my best! A big, warm hug to all!
