Photowalk in Mezzano - Trentino Alto Adige - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

Hello everyone, today I am taking you to Mezzano di Primiero, in Trentino Alto Adige, a mountain village of 1500 inhabitants nestled in the Primiero Valley.

Ciao a tutti, oggi vi porto a Mezzano di Primiero, in Trentino Alto Adige, un paesino di montagna di 1500 abitanti immerso nella Valle del Primiero.

It was fortunate to discover Mezzano, because it was absolutely not a goal that I had set out.

I was driving towards the mountains without a precise destination, like a true explorer when my belly tried to tell me that I had to introduce something so as not to pass out.

Every restaurant I met was closed, unbelievable, yet it was lunchtime and it was Saturday!
Since I couldn't find places to have lunch, I searched on google maps and thanks to technology, I drove towards Mezzano and managed to have lunch at the La Lontra restaurant. The food is good but it is very rustic in the rooms and in the service.

I was full and as the owner of the restaurant proudly praised the village and the route to visit Mezzano, just outside the restaurant I set out to explore.

E' stata una fortuna scoprire Mezzano, perchè non era assolutamente una meta che avevo prefissato.

Stavo guidando verso le montagne senza una meta precisa, da vero esploratore quando la mia pancia ha cercato di comunicarmi che dovevo introdurre qualcosa per non svenire.

Ogni ristorante che incontravo era chiuso, incredibile, eppure era ora di pranzo ed era sabato!
Visto che non trovavo posti dove pranzare, ho cercato su google maps e grazie alla tecnologia, ho guidato verso Mezzano e sono riuscito a pranzare al ristorante La Lontra. Si mangia bene ma è molto rustico negli ambienti e nel servizio.

Ero sazio e siccome la padrona del ristorante elogiava orgogliosa il borgo e il percorso per visitare Mezzano, appena fuori dal ristorante mi sono incamminato per esplorare.

The square looks good, it is immediately clear that Mezzano is a clean village loved by its inhabitants.

La piazza si presenta bene, si capisce fin da subito che Mezzano è un paesino pulito e amato dai suoi abitanti.

First I went to visit the church that I had taken in from the car and I was struck by its simplicity and harmony.

Per prima cosa sono andato a visitare la chiesa che avevo addocchiato dall'auto e mi aveva colpito per la sua semplicità e armonia.

The interior is pleasant, simple, but with some interesting details, considering that it is the church of a village of only 1500 inhabitants.

L'interno è piacevole, semplice, ma con alcuni dettagli interessanti, considerando che è la chiesa di un paesino di soli 1500 abitanti.

The church is dedicated to San Giorgio and dates back to the 14th century.
In the first half of the 18th century the building was enlarged. In all likelihood, the two side naves were built on that occasion and a new façade was erected.

La chiesa è dedicata a San Giorgio e risale al XIV secolo.
Nella prima metà del XVIII secolo l'edificio venne ampliato. Con ogni probabilità vennero realizzate in tale occasione le due navate laterali e fu eretto un nuovo prospetto.

Once out of the church, I passed again next to the restaurant where I had lunch and I took the path marked for the visit of the village.

Una volta uscito dalla chiesa, sono passato nuovamente a fianco al ristorante dove avevo pranzato e ho intrapreso il percorso segnalato per la visita del borgo.

To indicate the route there are red signs posted on the walls of the houses.

From the very first steps it is pleasant to walk among the old stone and wooden houses.

Già dai primi passi è piacevole camminare tra le vecchie case di sassi e legno.

The inhabitants of Mezzano characterize the alleys and streets with handcrafted works and decorations; an easy way to make urban spaces more interesting.

Gli abitanti di Mezzano caratterizzano i vicoli e le vie con opere e decorazioni artigianali; un modo semplice per rendere più interessanti gli spazi urbani.

Every now and then walking through Mezzano you will encounter real works of art with relative plaque with the name of the author and the work.

In front of a house there was a grandfather who taught his grandson to work leather.

Di fronte ad una casa c'era un nonno che insegnava a lavorare la pelle al nipote.

There was also a scale model near a barn.

There is a fountain and above the floor plan of Mezzano is represented in scale.

C'è una fontana e sopra è rappresentata in scala la planimetria di Mezzano.

Through a ladder you can see behind the work, the canal that flows into the fountain.

Considering that only 1500 inhabitants live there, Mezzano has a good extension, while I was walking in search of the next work I was surprised.

Considerando che ci vivono solo 1500 abitanti, Mezzano ha una buona estensione, mentre camminavo alla ricerca dell'opera successiva ne ero sorpreso.

An interesting aspect is that there are tons of fountains. It is wonderful to walk through the alleys and hear the sound of water spreading through the streets and squares.

Un aspetto interessante è che ci sono tantissime fontane. E' bellissimo camminare per i vicoli e sentire il suono dell'acqua propagarsi nelle strade, nelle piazze.

This work is also very modern and despite the very rustic and ancient context, I liked it.
I think the material here has made a difference, using wood, you are never wrong.

Anche quest'opera è molto moderna e nonostante il contesto molto rustico e antico, mi è piaciuta.
Penso che il materiale qui ha fatto la differenza, utilizzando il legno, non si sbaglia mai.

They are narrow underground passages built to convey the water from the springs that surround the town, in such a way as to supply fountains, drinking troughs and the first aqueducts in the town.

Sono degli stretti cunicoli interrati costruiti per convogliare l’acqua delle sorgenti che circondano il paese, in modo tale da rifornire fontane, abbeveratoi e i primi acquedotti del paese.

There are 3, still in excellent condition and located in the historic center. Two, illuminated, are entirely open to visitors.

Ne esistono 3, ancora in ottimo stato di conservazione e localizzati nel centro storico. Due, illuminati, sono interamente visitabili.

Once I got out, I stretched my back, because walking bent over for many meters is more tiring than I thought!

A few meters away, a surprise. You could access a furnished building as it was in the early 1900s!

There was everything, tools, utensils, radios, clothes and much more. A real blast from the past.

Once outside, the path continued and there were other interesting works to see.

In the last section there were frescoes on the walls of the oldest houses.

The journey had come to an end, and I was really satisfied.
A 360 degree surprise.

I recommend you to visit Mezzano, it's really worth it!
