Writing help

  • A free app: Grammarly. A lot of us are not native English speakers and I am finding it a helpful app. It will underline spelling and grammar mistakes. Remember that it is not always right -especially if you use complex sentence structures. Here is the link

  • Remember The Most Dangerous Writing App. You set the time - 5 min - and start typing. Don’t stop!!! It will destroy what you wrote if you stop for more than 3 seconds - and backspace does not count as writing on the app. If you are prone to stop and think - this app forces you to keep going. You can make corrections after the 5 minutes are over.

  • A timer. Egg timer is a free tool you can use on your desktop to set a time. This is useful for our freewrites or if you want to work in blocks of time and then take a break. Here is the link

  • I found this app through @emwalker. Use it regularly and it will help you type faster and more accurately. [10 fast fingers](https://10fastfingers.com/typing-test/english

This is my entry for today's 5 minute freewrite initiative:

Knives are something that have always caught my attention, due to the aspect of collecting and repairing each one, and having a different style within the great variety that exists, I have a universe of options to enjoy. Before, I used to collect Swiss Army knives of different sizes, nowadays I don't have any, but I really enjoy watching the restoration videos of them. This process of restoring old objects, knives and different things, the truth seems very interesting to me.

I learn a lot by watching the process, and I study the different techniques they use to restore them. Some use vinegar, others electrolysis to remove rust, and others even remove yellowing stains from polymer surfaces using hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet lights.

The point of all this is that knives are so interesting, especially the ones that have multiple gadgets, which are tools to perform any task, from cutting a piece of paper with scissors, to having a can opener or a mini hammer.

I'm a big fan of these restoration things, and I'm sharing a video where they restore a 400-year-old razor.

Despite my love for pocket knife and the way I admire it when I see one, still haven't given me a reason to own one. I won't say it because I can't afford one financially or legally but honestly I don't feel threatened anywhere I find myself. I feel like having a pocket knife is like a protective means instead carrying a gun around in a country where it is legal and it's do very portable to the extend that nobody will notice it on you..

I know they use it for other things like maybe peels mango, some uses it to open wine because it has this drilling stuff, some might even use it to open beer. Every advantage of having a pocket knife is something I don't do.

Maybe if I move to a violence area or maybe a country whereby carry stuffs like this is legal I might consider having one because it's illegal in my country
