The Woman in the Lake

The sun was out, casting its golden light across the serene lake. The sky was a brilliant blue, clear and pure, and a gentle summer breeze blew through the air.

At the furthest edge of the lake, an incredibly pretty woman was lying on the surface of the water, her body gently bobbing with the slow, frail waves. Her long dark hair floated in the water around her, and her pale skin shimmered in the sunlight. The rocks nearby seemed to offer her some comfort, remembering her of the old house in which she lived as a child, and she felt safe.

She closed her eyes and let her mind drift away. She was ruminative, thinking of the hours she had spent exploring the lake, of the sunrise she had watched early in the morning, and of the wildlife she had seen. She thought of the adorable, joyful local people she had met, of the memories they had shared, and of the delicious food they had given to her.

The woman felt peaceful, content. She was happy that she had decided to make this magnanimous lake her weekend getaway. It has been too long since she had left the putrid, rotten city.

"I definitely have to spend more time with myself", she thought. But, suddenly, she heard a splash nearby. When she opened her eyes, she saw a fish, swimming around the rocks, its scales shimmering in the sunlight, . She smiled and watched as it made its way around the lake.

In that moment, the woman felt truly alive. She felt connected to the lake and to the gigantic world around her. She felt freedom, she felt bliss, and she finally realized that this was the peace she had been searching for.

The woman stayed in the lake for a few more hours, until the sun began to set. She was recalcitrant to leave but, unfortunately, it was time to go home. She slowly made her way out of the water, and back to the shore. As she walked away, she glanced back at the lake and the rocks she had been lying on. She smiled, feeling grateful for the time she had spent there.

The kind of peace that comes with no regrets whatsoever. Beautiful piece I must say.

The woman felt peace, inner peace indeed

She let her mind find rest on the water surface, tranquility presiding over her thoughts

It must be hard to leave and return to hectic life after being hours in the water. Will that good feeling remain?
