"Digital Dreaming" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
Eeep op ork ah, ah!
So... I'm 49 now. I have blue hair and a bad back. I'm a grandpa, but I like to play with crayons. Time for a little reflection... Why do I make art?
I make art because I love drawing, creating creatures and ghosts and raaars, and telling little-teeny-tiny stories. I sometimes tell longer stories, too, but I think I like the smaller ones better. I like stories that feel like fragments, that imply a beginning and suggest a possible ending, but never push you all the way thru to the conclusion. I don't think I like endings...
Why SELL art, then? Why tokenize it? Here's the funny thing about writers (and other creative types), although the creative act is very satisfying, there is ANOTHER joyful point that can be reached: SHARING the creation. As a writer (I'm speaking for myself here, but I suspect this might be universal), I want READERS. As an image-maker, I want EYES on my images. (That's probably why I draw eyes all over so many of my creations...) And I've had pretty good luck finding eyes, but to be fair, I work pretty hard to PUSH my junk to the four corners of the globe! (I love that saying because a globe is a sphere, and therefore has no corners... I'm sure you get it...) I create on a daily basis, and I try to tokenize every day (on Hive and ETH and Tezos), but I don't always get that far. But I ALSO try to share a post or two (on Hive and Twitter...and maybe Ello or WordPress or Tumblr) ABOUT the art once it's up and OUT THERE. The SHARING is fun.
And I've also had quite a bit of luck with the SALES. Sales are important to help fund new ARTWORK, buying supplies and technical tools and paying the electric bill, PLUS paying to tokenize new stuff.
So, there you go... Artz is fun, but so is sharing. And having blue hair is also fun!

[Paint pen and felt pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.]
When the argument gets heated, it's important to keep it clean. Logos beat pathos (in a fair fight.)

"Space Love"
[Liner pen on notebook page with digital embellishments and color.]
They say SPACE LOVE is the best love of all... (I wouldn't know. I haven't tried every flavor...)

"Eternal"
[Various pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] There are a large number of people who believe that a portion of the human personality (fewer who believe other animals are so endowed) lives on after bodily death. Would such an existence look like this???

There is something strangely compelling about your art. It reminds me of this quote by Picasso: "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.”
I definitely try to focus on the fun. Making myself and my family laugh!
Hahaha! awesome quote of a wise man!

I love these and I have not tried this platform for digital art (I've done Makers Place) so I might give this platform a go.
I , too, am an artist, tho not a Grandparent...gosh not even a parent... the one thing I didn't have a go at creating haha. Tho I do love to create and I do TRY to create each day.
This month, with #inktober, I'm really giving it a go. It is a good excuse to really make the effort daily.
I don't have blue hair either, that probably is fun, but I do like to play in the garden on the sea and make things. It's very good to meet another artist, hive and online is SO good for; especially for introverts :)
Excellent message in your post. I find it a bit difficult to understand because I speak spanish, but thanks to the translation tools I can understand it (hahaha). Your art is great, because you take out the child in you and start drawing, something very difficult for many. Nice work.
